Today I have been working with brass. I have annealed it (softened it with heat). Then I bent it round the brass rod and cut it.

Good News: Bad News
It fits together pretty well (yeah 🙌!) BUT I need to pause to attach the handle before final assembly. (I took a tiny nick out of the veneer 🙄 trying to open with a fingernail and thought 💭) and there’s (yet again) a little bit more sanding to do!

@MakersHour We have guests Tonight so missing #MakersHour but I wanted to share my dress maker’s dummies project in 1/12 scale. I made them in two halves, baking the front first then adding the back and baking it all again. Now I plan to cover them in fabric. I am going to turn a base for each on the lathe so just using lolly sticks stuck in Fimo for now. #DollsHouse #Miniatures

Completely forgot #MakersHour last night and had meant to share that I blocked my mini knitting (the silk one is now cast off but not blocked yet). The blue Lacey one is a shawl pattern but it has come out a bit big - the two tone garter is the size of a one twelfth scale double bedspread.

@I_am_a_plant It’s one twelfth scale so should be around 3inches across the needle. It’s for my #DollsHouse #No52 (you’ll get some of my other makes on this #). However I am rapidly producing more items than I can display so I am thinking of creating room boxes for others.

I’m very slowly making an art deco inspired sideboard. There’s a lot still to be done, nothing you see here is glued in yet - but here’s a dry fit of the main parts.

I use a digital photo frame in my #DollsHouse photography for the view outside the window.
Digital photo frames are a perfect example of tech that "solves" a problem that never existed.
Too many photos of your family? Why not show them all in a digital slide show!
Don't want to go to the trouble and cost of printing and framing every photo you like? Get a digital photo frame so you can change the photos whenever you please!
It's a kind of excess is more mentally and a lazy ease is better. It completely disregards the beauty of printed photos and the fact they can be framed nicely. And it is also a redundant product because we all walk around with our photo albums on our smartphones, that we look at whenever we want, and we share them via messaging apps so everyone has a copy anyway.

A poll about #dolls. I am mostly interested in dolls house dolls but I think any doll would be relevant. All genders of doll also considered. I am thinking humanoid but if you have a robot do comment! I think opinion is very divided about dolls in general but I want to know whether you like dolls or not and if you would collect them as an adult.
I realise there is a wide open goal for smut here - if you have something smutty and original to say, don’t let me stop you, points if I laugh out loud:- (but it better be more witty than ‘Ha Ha Ha inflatable dolls’ 🙄).

Finally got back in the craft room today after a few weeks of just going in there, dumping things, and coming out again. I did some more work on my sideboard but it must be the world’s slowest project. I have been making costumes on my lap tray in the lounge but I am not sure about dressing dolls as a past time - really because of the future use of the dolls - would anyone want them? Why make things for no purpose? I’m not sure. So I thought I would try making some historic dressmakers dummies and then dressing them. This way I can make as many outfits as I like without needing to buy dolls or find someone who wants a dressed doll at the end. These actually look quite simple to do - I can turn the stand on the lathe and then make up the bodies out of spare scraps.

I've just uploaded a new photo to my shop.
It's a very small, doll's house version of Asa Winstanley's Weaponising Anti-Semitism.
I made the photo about a week ago and I realised that it's fairly current with the anti-Semitism smear now being used against the Green Party.
Anyway, the artwork is what you see. It's a nice doll's house interior with a miniature copy of the book.

I'll have an entry in the Perfection in Miniature Awards at the Kensington Dollshouse Festival, London, on Friday & Saturday 15-16 May. Something to put in your calendars if you're free and in the area.
It is ticketed and has been sold out last year.
Not allowed to post pictures of my entry until the show opens so it'll be a surprise for all.

Thankfully a *friend of mine posted about their DnD campaign idea... simply "Skull Croquembouche"
And thus this monstrosity was born.
Made of citadel skulls, painted, and some UV resin (and glue), on previous bought ceramic mini plates.

yayy it's the official end of the Petite Properties advent calendar so I can post Day 2's Gothic Library Bookcase build!
This is what I was making lots of tiny books for. It's quarter scale 1:48 so it's fairly tiny.This kit will be available via Petite Properties in March 2026.
