I hate seeing my schmoopie so sad and low energy. (He's clearly picking up on my vibe and being all, 'I'm sick mommy.')

The marine layer woke us both up with its cool damp breezes coming through the windows.

After deigning to snuggle for approximately 5 min (I take what i can get), Benson wanted a long sniffari so that's what I gave him.

My back will chastise me later.

After breakfast we went though our Goopy Face routine (I wipe his face+jowls because he's a messy eater), he did a butt scoot. Horrified, I *immediately* grabbed the dog wipes and wiped his butt.

And that booger plopped into a perfect sit. Thwarted.

Ok, doggo. I'll respect your boundaries. But I AM going to clean that booty later.

Being a #DogMama in medical crisis is hard.

These are my thoughts:
Omg what's going on with my back
Oh shit I need to walk Benson
I can't get his harness on its too painful
What the hell I need to call my doctor
But what about Benson
How will I do all the things
I just need to be able to walk
Benson needs to poo

Exhausting and anxious thought process.

But I have my helpers in place now: Aaron from No Bark Zone
Besties
Happy Hound

But dang. Talk about needing a village.

Being a #DogMama in medical crisis is hard.

Benson is happily cobbling one of his toys right now but maaaan, the walk upstairs was a comedy of Woman vs Pittie Who Wants to Play.

Have you ever had a pittie accidentally nip your fupa in the struggle to grab the leash? No? Let me tell you, it motivates you to let the dog have the leash while you go up the stairs.

I don't care what trainers and Cesar says. If Benson wants to nibble on the leash because he's in his dog feelings then fuckit. He can nibble on it. Until we get inside.

Then it's *on.*
Also, thank God I wear leather gloves.

Upside: my back is warmed up and my hip is loose. Thanks, doggo, you beast.

I was going to tell a story about how Benson gacked and a treat flew out his mouth then he ate it again, and it cracked me up -- but I didn't want to be that Dog Mom who tells boring stories about her Schmoopie only she loves.

It's a good night to sit on the porch and let the past 12 hours crumble off.

Benson is in boarding and I already miss him. We arrived early (of course) and there was this sweet moment when we were waiting to be checked in and the daycare manager came over. She's a tall Black woman with braids and somewhat physically imposing. (At least to me, who is barely 5'3".) Benson perked up and sat down (squeeee) and his tail just whipped my legs.

Her: I just came over to say hi to this big boi.

And she bent waaaay down and tugged on his big neck the way he likes and *kissed his nose*!!

Benson almost yeeted himself into the atmosphere he was so happy.

I calculated that my annual spend for daycare is conservatively into the thousands. Worth every penny to see my big boi taken care of so well when I need to travel for work.

The fluff is out of control.

Miss him but glad I have a day of girlie errands to run without him.

I'm keeping Benson home from daycare today which means I'm WFH.

He's been coughing since yesterday (not in his usual old man way when he's snorted too much water or a piece of grass tickled his throat) and coughed up a gnarly looking loogie last night.

His energy is good and his appetite is solid (as per yooshe) but the cough...😰 That dog respiratory illness that was going around last season worries me.

I'm not taking chances.

So this is me at 5.45 am, with my dog, texting my vet to get an appointment.

So I looked on YouTube and found Baskerville.🤔

We just tried it on (size 4); it fits well. I just learned how to attach it to his collar, and he can take treats while wearing it.

It is *robust* as hell.
