Update to the family doctor list adventure for me… my husband @mendel and I both have a doctor now. I didn’t even have to ask if they could take him too, he was included when they called me to book.
In summary: Moved here Labour Day 2021. Got on the list a month later (once we had MSI). Got emailed about a doctor in early July. They called me to book in early August. Had intake appointments today.
Just under two years on the list.

By the way: if you are on the list and want to update your info, you can do so here. Updating doesn’t kick you down to the bottom of the list. They now ask a good 30 or so questions about your medical needs so people who are in most need find doctors faster.

We got emails from NSH saying our turn was next and they have a female doctor in Dartmouth who will be accepting patients.
We had 24 hours to reply to the email confirming we needed a doctor, and giving a phone number we can be reached at.
The email does not indicate the clinic, doctor’s name, or any other info. They do this so the clinic does not get flooded with calls. If you’ve tried to call any doctor’s office in the past 3 years you know why this is needed.

We received emails from the government this morning letting us know a new doctor will be starting in our area soon and we could potentially get on her roster.
I’m not going to celebrate just yet until it’s official, but that’s potentially a big relief after almost 2 years on the list and some chronic health issues that need attention.
