As is the status quo in the chaos of the #TrumpRegime, confusion abounds about whether the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program will continue to share data with #NOAA and #NASA.
In the past, both the Pentagon and NOAA knew they needed global weather coverage, and agree to split responsibilities and share the data so the could spread the cost between their budgets. #DMSP for the #DOD and #POES and #GOES for #NOAA.
It was a win for everyone. Better #storm tracking, better #forecasting at home and in foreign locations for the #military.

🚧 Access to SSMIS data from the US #DMSP satellites is becoming less reliable as this satellite program is reaching its end. Data will become scarser with the time until a full stop in 09/2026. Several OSI SAF #SeaIce products are affected.
