Apple ostrzega: wolniejsze wprowadzanie funkcji w Wielkiej Brytanii pod nowymi regulacjami

Apple zasugerowało, że użytkownicy w Wielkiej Brytanii mogą otrzymywać nowe funkcje z opóźnieniem, jeśli wejdą w życie przepisy wynikające z ustawy Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act (DMCC). To efekt decyzji tamtejszego regulatora (CMA), który uznał Apple i Google za firmy o „strategicznym znaczeniu rynkowym”, podobnie jak w unijnym Digital Markets Act (DMA).

Apple krytykuje regulacje, twierdząc, że mogą one:

• zagrozić prywatności i bezpieczeństwu użytkowników,
• utrudnić innowacje,
• zmusić firmę do udostępniania technologii konkurencji.

Firma przypomniała też, że już wcześniej opóźniała wprowadzanie funkcji w Europie z powodu regulacji DMA. Podobne działania stosowały także Google, Meta czy OpenAI.

Brytyjski regulator odpowiada, że przepisy są mniej restrykcyjne niż DMA i mają dotyczyć głównie interoperacyjności wybranych usług, np. cyfrowych portfeli i zegarków Apple. CMA podkreśla, że celem jest zwiększenie konkurencji bez naruszania prywatności i własności intelektualnej.

The UK Competition and Markets Authority (#CMA) has launched today a new investigation into #Apple and #Google under the Digital Markets Competition Code (#DMCC) to determine their strategic market status in mobile ecosystems, including operating systems, app stores, and mobile browsers.

We welcome this as a step towards fairer markets where #DeviceNeutrality is the standard, and #FreeSoftware its enabler.
