What do djiti-djitis get up to after rainy days?

For the 2nd winter here a djiti (new younger one this winter) has spent a lot of time eating insects close to my compost bin.

And both years they've disappeared for long times (a week or much longer) after rainy days.

Saw my one again today for the first time since the rains began - what 7 weeks ago?

Thinking they've got a "raining days" food source.

Last spring's djiti-djiti nest.

If it gets repaired and used I'll wait till the nestlings have flown away before pruning off the branch.

The nest is very visible, exposed. The djiti-djitis are very small and aggressive and I think they successfully keep the predators off.
