"On the surface of it a fairly typical Cumbrian Bronze Age stone circle but the story of the circle and even the stones themselves is rather murky.

Sometime in the 18th century a local farmer is said to have dismantled some or all of a stone circle on land owned by 'Standing Stones' farm and reused them as gateposts. The farm is shown on both old and modern maps as standing just over a mile (1km) almost due south.

The current stone circle was 'restored' in 1925 by a Dr Quine with the stones being set in concrete - how accurate the reconstruction was is not known"

Forest Exploring

Playing with the new DJI Osmo 360 in our local forest, coupled with our DJI Flip

So far impressed, will take me a while to get hang of fully but nothing like practice.

Quality of images is very good, relatively easy to use though many options I need to explore as yet.

Light enough to use easily on long selfie (was a serious issue with way my neck and back are damaged), and as standard 1/4" mount screw, tripods, mounts etc are cheap to pick up.

Not tested in water as yet, figure muddy stream wasn't best first test so will get by the lakes soon 😁

Be warned, using in 8k or 6k will result in some SERIOUS file sizes, have storage ready 😆

DJI rzuca wyzwanie rynkowi kamer 360. Ten sprzęt ma zmienić zasady gry

DJI, gigant znany z dominacji na rynku dronów i gimbali, wchodzi na nowe dla siebie pole na rynku – branżę kamer sferycznych. Firma zaprezentowała model Osmo 360.

Model ten jest nie tylko debiutem DJI w tej kategorii, ale też bezpośrednim atakiem na pozycję ugruntowanych graczy, takich jak Insta360. Broń, którą DJI chce podbić ten segment, to specyfikacja techniczna z najwyższej półki, z rozdzielczością 8K i dużą, calową matrycą na czele.

Głównym argumentem, którym DJI chce przekonać do siebie twórców, jest bezkompromisowa jakość obrazu. Sercem kamery jest nowatorski, kwadratowy sensor HDR o przekątnej jednego cala. To ruch w stronę segmentu premium, gdyż tak duże matryce w niewielkich kamerach sferycznych są rzadkością.

W teorii, w połączeniu z dużymi pikselami (2.4μm) i jasnym obiektywem (f/1.9), powinno to zapewnić znacznie lepsze rezultaty w słabym oświetleniu – odwieczną bolączkę tego typu urządzeń. DJI dorzuca do tego nagrywanie w natywnym 8K (nawet w 50 kl./s) oraz zdjęcia w rozdzielczości 120 Mpix, co na papierze stawia Osmo 360 na czele stawki. Czy faktycznie jest tak dobrze? Na to będziemy w stanie odpowiedzieć, gdy sprzęt trafi do naszej redakcji na testy. Póki co skupmy się na atutach nowości podkreślanych przez producenta.

Kolejnym strategicznym ruchem jest podejście hybrydowe. DJI zdaje się rozumieć, że nie każdy potrzebuje kamery wyłącznie 360°. Dlatego Osmo 360 potrafi przełączyć się w tryb jednosoczewkowej kamery akcji, oferując nagrywanie w 5K przy 60 kl./s. To próba przyciągnięcia szerszego grona odbiorców, oferując im niejako dwa urządzenia w jednym. Całość wspierają zaawansowane algorytmy stabilizacji HorizonSteady i RockSteady, co jest naturalnym wykorzystaniem wieloletniego doświadczenia firmy w tej dziedzinie.

Siłą nowego produktu ma być nie tylko sama kamera, ale cały ekosystem DJI. Czas pracy na baterii, wynoszący według producenta 100 minut przy nagrywaniu w 8K, wbudowana pamięć 105 GB czy szybkie ładowanie to parametry, które mają znaczenie w terenie. Kluczowe jest jednak wykorzystanie już istniejących rozwiązań – zgodność z akcesoriami z serii Osmo Action oraz, co istotne dla vlogerów, możliwość bezpośredniego podłączenia mikrofonów DJI Mic. To pokazuje, że DJI nie buduje pozycji od zera, lecz wykorzystuje przewagę, jaką daje ugruntowana marka i szerokie portfolio produktów.

Ambicje DJI mają jednak swoją cenę. Kamera w wersji standardowej została wyceniona na 479,99 euro, a w bogatszym zestawie „Adventure” na 629,99 euro. To pozycjonuje ją na wyższej półce cenowej. Rynek zweryfikuje, czy obietnica najwyższej jakości obrazu i wygoda ekosystemu są warte tej ceny i czy manewr wejścia na kolejny, zatłoczony już rynek, okaże się dla DJI równie udany, co w przypadku dronów.
