  1. Somebody has had a nice little party for one alongside the house. A vape, two packs of Oxycodone & some codeine. No wonder they couldn't take their rubbish away with them #Oakleigh #DjerringTrail

  2. Amusing tradie interaction on #DjerringTrail. Electrician cable-ties "notice of works" to the fence as I was passing. "All the street lights along the trail through hughesdale to be replaced, all faulty" (<6yrs old, installed by level crossing removal project)

I asked "Will you be installing lights in the missing black section?" He then confidently told me that no, could not be done because the part of the council's park that has been here for decades that I was referring to, "that section of is railway land" then turning around to point down the railway bit, newly created in 2018 by LXRA, "and that section is council land"

  3. Amused. Walking in local park and as a cyclist rode past a Jack Russell bolted out of the bushes and is missed by about 20cm. Cyclist yells at me "control your dog". Pointed out dog belongs to shouty man 20m away who refuses to leash his dog. Cyclist rides up to shouty man ... who immediately starts shouting to F"ing watch where he's F'ing riding and watch out for his (illegally off leash)F'ing dog.

Psa. Avoid shouty man on #djerringtrail

  4. Oh look, the Herald Sun has discovered that the railway project giveth, and the railway project taketh away

Level Crossing Removal built a park on the #DjerringTrail as a minor ad-on to their infrastructure

Suburban Rail Loop are removing it and building a new one on the other side of Clayton road

They've really got the hate on for the #SRL haven't they. Can't spend money on #railways, we need MOAR ROADZ!

Wait until the HS see the multi-million dollar childcare centre built in 2010 that SRL bulldozed at Monash Uni!

  5. And lo, the Murrumbeena Rd #djerringtrail crossing has been painted yella, just like wot spouse told me. Yes, I had not noticed when I rode across yesterday, too busy watching the drivers for any ignoring the traffic lights

  6. @aeduna yes, definitely unpredictable. Most of the council ones I report get done

Finest exception is the #DjerringTrail street lights over the trail that have been on 24x7 since Sep 2018 in Murrumbeena, City of Glen Eira, Metro & United Energy all insist that its someone else's problem every year or so when I re-report it

  7. Hilarity. Oh I love #snapsendsolve. You take a photo of a massive pile of overnight dumping on the #DjerringTrail and report it. it goes to the council, you have no say in where it goes. The council then emails VicTrack saying oh no, 'tis VicTrack land,, please clean it but CC's you in as well. A few hours later VicTrack emails Metro trains saying Oh no, 'tis leased to Metro, "metro please clean it", but CC's council and you as well

if all goes according to previous reports, two weeks will pass and nothing will be done, and then #SnapSendSolve lets you "prompt" their report. The "prompt" will send off an email to ... you guessed it, the council

  8. @jessta went out that way on Saturday to check out the path & the station. Very impressive look to the station and the decorated poles, of course they're five years younger than along our line, so not so graffitied and faded, but even so they've got better art. Road crossing treatment seems to have learnt a few things from along the #DjerringTrail -- more clearly delineated, and little things like having the beg button on the left where you can reach it, rather than on the far right where the pole happened to be. Wonder if it was LXRA learning, public pressure, or secret northside cycling cabal that got that done?

  9. @unixben level crossing removal authority are who _built_ the #DjerringTrail ... and built a bicycle level crossing Clayton rather than route the path so it didn't need one!

  10. #DjerringTrail where it crosses Murrumbeena rd is a disaster waiting to happen. SO MANY TIMES the light goes orange, goes red, the bike light goes green and as you're riding across someone just drives blindly through the red, eyes on the Neerim road lights at the next intersection

yet again, today, big white SUV straight through between four people walking west and two cyclists heading east

  11. foof, done. 3hrs of sitting in the sun with tick sheet marking off all users of multi-use trail. #cyclists e-cyclists walkers runners dog-walkers e-scooters and the inevitable "other"

Thumbs up to mobility scooter guy for being "other"

Thumbs down to three cyclists blasting through the give-way sign pedestrian crossing and yelling at the blind woman with guide dog in harness "Watch out! Coming through" ... pause .. "One more!" May you find a magpie each and eternal headwinds

  12. CW: SRL Melbourne cycling

SRL works have not only closed the #DjerringTrail past Clayton station for a month, they haven't even bothered to show it on their map of closed roads and footpaths. It's like the skyrail-build f-you to #cyclists all over again

Earlier this week I saw a van from a traffic mgmt company installing a camera box pointing at #DjerringTrail traffic between Hughesdale & Oakleigh. Over the past few days I've realised they've got at least four of them. Seem to be doing a survey of how many people #cycling use the "perfectly good bike path" (which directs you to the "cyclists dismount" section through the station) and how many turn off at Richardson/Paddington st and use Willesden rd so that they can ride through without having to walk through the station

  14. CW: Melbourne cycling

The joys of #cycling on offroad bikepaths, still not safe from the #marvellous #melbourne #motorist

With an impressive piece of driving, a motorist heading Sth on Murrumbeena rd mistakes the #DjerringTrail for Neerim rd and attempts the "quick I'll just hook right in here while there's a gap in the oncoming traffic" Big crunch as she drives into the kerb, looks up, sees me, frantically flaps hands about mouthing "sorry/shit", pulls back out and tears off down the wrong side of Murrumbeena rd past stopped cars to the lights, then into the intersection and pulls in front of the cars wating to turn right, then switches on her right indicator. Me and the guy walking on the path near her look at each other, his "WTF was that!" pretty much sums it up

  15. @ameel and if you are a #cyclist that uses the #djerringtrail, or a pedestrian who uses the ped. level xing, did you know that "metro tunnel" are closing the trail & xing through Hughesdale from tomorrow, until the end of january. Their notices telling people about the two month closure went up yesterday!
