Turns out the Internet seemed to think it had something to do with asusctl not being installed. Since I could not find a way to do it on AuroraOS (immutable), I distro hopped until settled on CachyOS. I wasn't really gonna do any heavy lifting with the laptop. Use it for travel or maybe write something on it. I was hoping I wouldn't have to use Cachy, but turns out I might have fixed the battery/power management issue by installing asusctl with it.

I ran into a problem with an Asus Vivobook that recently bought when installing Linux on it. I was using AuroraOS, however something with the power management or battery driver didn't play nice with settings. It would constantly think it was plugged in or charging every minute or so if I was not actually plugged in. This prompted me to try and find solution.

I keep building systems for my ideal self, the one with consistent energy, perfect executive function, and endless motivation to maintain complex infrastructure.
Then my actual self shows up and just wants Debian to work.
The cycle taught me something: each experiment wasn't wasted. Gentoo, Nix, LFS, they all made me better at understanding why simple works.
Building for your future self is smart. Building for a different person entirely is exhaustion.

While distro-hopping and hunting for "latest" packages, I really should just step back. I love Debian. No other distro has the community and governance of Debian.
The thing I've always disliked is the staleness of being "stable." But really, there are only a few packages that I want to be absolutely newest, and they are:
Librewolf
Proton Mail/Pass/VPN
VestkopOf course there are other nice to haves, but those are the ones I use the most.

Thinking I want my homelab back on proxmox. Also, considering moving back to Arch on desktop and laptop.

I just wanted to convert my home directory to a home partition (to keep my data while #distrohopping).
Why does everyone tell you to
1. delete your root partition,
2. create a brand new root partition and
3. create a home partition?You're guaranteed to lose your home directory on the old root partition, so you always need to restore a backup, copying around your data a second time, for no good reason.

Es ist wieder soweit. Ich möchte eine neue Distro ausprobieren.
Derzeit bin ich auf Fedora, da hat es von anfang an "Klick" gemacht. Sauber, stabil und aktuell.

Fedora.. me? Yeah. For a while.
Distro hopping on spare hardware getting ready for an Installfest. Just put Fedora Workstation 44 on an older Lenovo Thinkpad Carbon. They are so intimate I blushed. ;) Looks like Fedora just downloaded patched and updated bios and other firmware automatically (I clicked "Yes"). And I gotta admit, pretty slick overall. May have to daily it like this for a while. #Fedora #Lenovo #Linux #distrohopping -

What would be the best Linux distro and best desktop environment in 2026 for a disabled artists who wants things to just work? Priority: krita, huion tablet just works, lmms, Scarlett audio interface, midi, audacity work.
If not out of the box, then with minimal simple setup such as installing a driver.

Lo más probable es que solo necesités instalarte una distribución tipo Linux Mint y manejarla de forma predeterminada. A veces la fijación que tienen estos expertos con alguna tecnología los lleva a hacerte sugerencias innecesarias: Wayland, inmutabilidad, distros rolling-release, contenedores, windows managers, etc

It's been fun riding the non-systemd wave for a few weeks, but I think I might move onto CachyOS. Sometimes those out of the box kernel optimizations just call your name.
