But I don't know how much research there is on what happens if some of the computers can travel #FasterThanLight with the possible quirks on causality etc.... (Although given overlap between computer scientists and SF enthusiasts, maybe the question *has* been considered!)

@chris I agree: public-key signatures are undoubtedly a bigger part of our future! This applies not just to the source material but also to editing transformations - we should be able to verify the whole chain from raw material to (e.g.) a written news item with embedded media. This probably suits a #distributedledger, even.

I was always a bit perplexed at what problem the #DistributedLedger was meant to solve for the #ASX. They are the trusted intermediary, so why replace that with a technology that solves the problem of not needing to trust an intermediary? Less complex solutions exist for this if the ASX is content to be trusted.
