"Distraction-Free Desktop" is a self-written Gnome Shell extension that does the following:
- Centers every new window at half the width of the screen and two-thirds the height.
- Hides all non-active windows.
- Active window can still be resized and maximized to full screen size when needed.Download:

All docks and status bars are deactivated and all inactive windows are hidden. However, they can be reactivated by tab-cycling through windows or via the desktop overview triggered by the Super/Windows key.
(Radical distraction freedom. Makes Gnome even more minimalist than evilwm [except in the codebase...] - and window management even less cluttered than tiling window managers...)

Quitting the "scrollables" is totally worth it.
I quit all the big centralized scroller apps. Yes finally even YouTube has been deleted from my phone and blocked/privacy-redirected on my laptop.
Now I use:
- Miniflux RSS feed
- Curated Mastodon feed
- Podverse podcasts
- Freetube + Grayjay for music and video search/follow
- Kavita ebooksI could reduce to just RSS but the other clients are nice to use for their respective media type.

I think in many ways its better to have no information than half-true/distracting/inflammatory information. This is why I don't consume mass news media.
