Makes me think which perspective would be done. Y‘all seem to think it’s a #StarTreck episode. But I’d prefer a #DiskWorld book / movie. I’d love to see the Star Trek crew fumble around there.
Maybe Data would learn Magic. Or find out he’s just a #LLM and spells are functionally identical to prompts. -
Ich hab noch gar nicht erzählt, daß ich vor einigen Tagen das letzte Pratchett-Diskworld-Audoiobook zu Ende gehört hab. Ich hatte wie es sich gehört mit The Colour of Magic angefangen und dann chronologisch Spaziergang für Spaziergang durch alle Hörbücher durch. Ja, ich werde auch Rincewind vermissen, Vimes, DEATH und Susan, und vielleicht sogar Lord Vetinari, aber Tiffany, Hag o' the Hills, ist einfach großartig.
Tiffany begann mit „what would Granny do?“, aber wir sollten uns vielmehr fragen: „What would Tiffany do?“

Wo ist die lebhafte Diskussion über die These, dass es #LordVetinari.nicht um #Macht-Gewinn und -erhalt geht – zumindest nicht zur Durchsetzung von Partikularinteressen?
Ich halte die für hochgradig lohnenswert!

ist ja witzig! ich entdecke immer wieder mal neues bei den büchern von terry pratchett. da gab es oft sachen, mit denen ich nicht viel anfangen konnte und zu denen ich früher auch nirgendwo informationen gefunden hatte. zb. den HoHo im Palastgarten von Ankh-Morpok. Konstruiert und designt wurde der garten von b.s. johnson (bergholt stuttley, oder bloody stupid). Und soll ein tiefer graben sein, in den ständig leute hineinfallen.
nun lese ich, das war keine witzige erfindung pratchetts, sondern so etwas gab es wirklich. und es gab einen vorlage für bs johnson, der einen ha-ha für seine gärten erfand.
man lernt nie aus ...

AgreedAnd it sounds a lot like gods work in Terry Pratchett's #Diskworld. They only exist when people believe in them. The get smaller and less powerful when less people believe in them (and if i recall the aren't that anyway)

After reading 17 #diskworld book, now every time I see it ready about a Grime Reaper (Death) it's just him. He's just a loveable Death and in some strange way very relatable.

Diskworld series never became mainstream in India. But Harry Potter became. The first
HP book came out in 1997 and there has been roughly 20 diskworld books after '97. We heard so much about HP when we were in school but not once about Diskworld series. I don't remember seeing diskworld books in a book shop or even in libraries. But HP books were always on display. Any thoughts on why is that so?
