  1. Blackpool – Kicking the Poorest People into the Gutter

Improving the lives of people "entrenched in poverty" would be praiseworthy if this project did that but gentrification removes poverty from an area by forceable displacement of the current poverty stricken residents. The council fails to clarify how the lives of the evicted are being improved. Hundreds of families in one of England’s poorest neighbourhoods will be evicted under a £90m plan described by critics as a “mass dispersion” of vulnerable people. 400 homes in Blackpool will […]

  6. @kim_harding Agreed, lying and fabrication of figures. Have been reading around Bill Adair’s Beyond the Big Lie. Adair, now holding an endowed chair at Duke University, founded [ratings, pants-on-fire] PolitiFact (Florida’s Tampa Bay Times); so my question is, who does Truth Social poster think his audience is? Strategy is to confuse, be first to flood discussion with disinformation. How can negotiations proceed? Or?

  7. @talzag sustainable? By increasing demand on cropland for biodiesel? Is there enough foodwaste and CAFO waste to produce this "sustainable" fuel for all those who want to use it? Does this address the particulate and NOx problems?

Or is this just industry propaganda that comforts those who ignore system lifecycle effects, and don't want to look too closely?

  8. @identifont Campos claims “early 19th century fat-face lettering” as influence for Aljaraz. Sadly he fails to mention Ohno Blazeface (2018) and, for the italics, Stilla (1973). Those strike me as more relevant than Caslon Black or Thorowgood Italic. #disingenuous

  9. @Sir_Osis_of_Liver @tod

I'm not a Facebook shill; I detest Facebook and always have; I have never had an account. I would be perfectly happy to drop Zuckerberg into whichever of Hawaii's volcanoes is closest to his private estate.

I'm also not defending Google - I don't use their services and don't have an account there, either.

What I'm saying is that this outcome was both #predictable - it doesn't make #financial sense to pay to link - and #predicted. Acting shocked now is #disingenuous.

  10. While I can appreciate Mark Ruffalo's acting and I heartily agree with his sentiment regarding Hollywood studios and the "capital" of Hollywood... there's one thing I have to vehemently disagree with him on... Hollywood actors are NOT "workers", are NOT "labour".

Oh, he and many in Hollywood are "liberals", or at least pretend to be, but that does NOT change their class. They are NOT starving actors in New York or Soho, London.

  11. @dynaml True. In my experience that rule has applied not just to #science but any field of #endeavour. My #politics & #principles have always gotten in the way of any career advancement. Never did learn to keep my mouth shut or be #disingenuous. (#diplomatic) 😎

  12. So, #Sunak wants to appear as the saviour of the #NHS with his #emergency 'fixes'.

Let's not fall for this #disingenuous crap from the #Tories who have systematically underfunded the health service for their entire squalid existence.

    P.S. Don't attempt walking on water #Sunak

*Fletcher: Well, the Prime Minister ultimately has control of all the access, all of the resources of federal government.*
    No, no s/he doesn't.
I know it's hard after Morrison's brilliant spell, but we don't have a presidency. That's not how Aus Gov works, much as former Ministers might wax nostalgic for the days of the Boss and Captain's Picks #disingenuous

  14. @rodhilton I think people might have meant to say he is #disingenuous and not "he is a genius." He has been consistantly #disingenuous when conducting all his endeavours.
