I created a passkey for my Microsoft account. Windows Hello kept popping up and the implications were not immediately clear.
When I tried accessing my account with Chrome the Hello authentication prompt kept coming up even though I selected Google Password Manager as the passkey, er, source. When I disabled Hello things made sense again. But now I need my Microsoft account password to sign into the VM.

The #Android Calendar app now has UI for tasks. I uninstalled the Tasks app. I feel this goes against apps doing one thing and doing them well.

I'm surprised that neither #Signal nor #GoogleMessages support multiple reactions on a message. I've gotten used to it on #GoogleChat.

I migrated my #Timeline to on-device. Curating it with the Maps app editor is far more frustrating than it was on the web. I'm gonna have to give up that part of my daily ritual until it gets better. https://support.google.com/maps/answer/14169818

I was poking at my #Gboard settings and discovered something very interesting. A new layout, #ClearFlow, optimized for glide typing. I've been a fan of glide typing since Swype introduced me to it and now there's an even better way? Sure, I'll take it for a spin! https://clearflowkeyboard.github.io

A big fat #DisclosureIWorkAtGoogle
1. #Waymo. Literal robot cars are driving around the city I live in. As a pedestrian, I already trust them far more than humans. I happily take out of towners on joyrides.

#GooglePlayMusic in its heyday was far better than anything out now. Apple Music is the closest but it's still frustrating.
If I could bring back one product from the graveyard, it would be this one

The #GoogleFiWireless app now defers to the Settings app for its notifications settings. As I feel it should be.
It's one of the better Google apps and services

I can't wait for message editing in Messages! https://blog.google/products/android/new-android-features-may-2024/

I'm Mexican and I'm pretty thrilled that the current doodle celebrates chilaquiles. My mom makes some absolutely great ones. https://doodles.google/doodle/celebrating-chilaquiles/

.@davidimel's take on the SMS/MMS–iMessage issue. At 20:06 he points out "that Apple's iMessage is one of the only rich messaging protocols that isn't platform agnostic." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHOf1Wlgpek

I'm impressed. #PhoneScreen takes care of telemarketers for me. Without ringing at all. The "You ended the call" at the bottom is inaccurate; the robot did, not me.

I am officially migrating from #YouTubeMusic to #AppleMusic because its library management is the closest that I've found to what Google Play Music had in the day. My desktop device is a Windows 11 VM in Debian and my mobile one is a Pixel 8.
I now have one pinky toe in the other ecosystem 🤔

I humbly and respectfully disagree that "#RCS is just a slightly better replacement for SMS." Read receipts, typing indicators, larger file sizes so videos from iPhones are legible, ... https://daringfireball.net/2024/02/eu_rcs_imessage

I'm a huge fan of Android's robust notification controls. But I wish I could delete notification categories as a user. I'd even be OK with an adb way of doing it. AFAIK you can't do it without clearing storage.
Now that I'm asking for ponies, I also wish Phone's notification settings weren't locked down

MKBHD's Phone of the Year is the Pixel 8! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkRXhe3KaPE
Rocking one myself 😎 I wasn't expecting the battery to be as good as it is.

From an Android user to Apple, *thank you* https://9to5mac.com/2023/11/16/apple-rcs-coming-to-iphone/

It sounds like Nothing is shipping an app codeveloped with Sunbird to get iMessage on Android. Interesting.
Here's to hoping Apple adopts modern messaging standards. But in the meantime, you get this. https://youtu.be/ji5HwS3bhlU

Huh. Samsung is getting in on this. Sorry for the short. https://youtube.com/shorts/Rvr6XSFKJA8

SMS is awful and if we text regularly I will be annoying and push us to a modern messaging service https://youtu.be/N_B0riy__rw
