I'm also reading the comic book in the original Spanish, helped by a dodgy English translation. I'm half-way through the first book.
There are changes that I like.
Then there are changes that I dislike:
* The TV show nerfed the snow by a lot. Seeing as the book has the snow killing you *on contact*, I found a couple of scenes jarring. In ep1, I think it was Juan who has to cross a space where the snow is falling. It seemed to me he should have died right there and then.... but the plot needs him. In ep2, the folks in the train should be dead. I cannot believe that they've not been reached by the snow.
* Favalli ("Tano") has been turned from man of cold logic into a crybaby.
* He's also been turned into a magician. In ep2 he cuts off the prongs of a record player, and hooks it up to a battery. Lo and behold, the record player starts playing.... How this works is pure magic. See, the player takes AC, whereas the battery delivers DC. So the only way this can work is if magic is involved.
So far the TV show is a mixed bag.
