  6. 3 things about James Goldstone’s WHEN TIME RAN OUT… [1980]

    1. Manual cable wench.
    2. Lava bomb mirror smash.
    3. Burgess Meredith as superhero!

  7. Today's #Disasters lineup are #FromSpaceDisasters I started with Maximum overdrive 1986 that I had saved on the PVR before moving on to the 1s I have in my collection Night of the comet 1984, Deep impact 1998 & Armageddon 1998. #MyHorrorfest #SpaceDust #CometDisasters #MeteorsDisasters #HorrorMovies #Horror #DisasterMovies

  8. I've got some #FireDisasters for today's #Disasters lineup. I watched City on fire 1979 on Prime this morning between doing the laundry & having breakfast then doing the dishes. Now on to the 4 movies I have in my collection with the Towering inferno 1974 (I remember watching this on TV with my mom & thinking a great view isn't worth the death trap), Daylight 1986, Deepwater horizon 2016 (I still remember when this tragedy was breaking news) & Skyscraper 2018. #MyHorrorfest #DisasterMovies

  9. Today's #Disasters lineup were the 5 Final destination movies, a favorite franchise. I actually saw the 3D movie in the theaters (my 1st 3D movie & I kept the glasses as a memento) & it was sooo cool! I sometimes wonder what I'll do when death finally comes for me. I wonder if I'll run, embrace it or bitch 'what the fuck took you so long?'! I also saw that Tony Todd died yesterday, he also was a favorite. #RIPTonyTodd #MyHorrorfest #DisasterMovies #HorrorMovies #Horror #FinalDestination

  10. Today's #Disasters lineup, I started the morning with something I think I haven't seen before Doomsday prophecy 2011 that I had saved on the PVR then I did a few chores before breakfast so to get them out of the way & that way I can actually sit down to watch the remaining 4 movies which are Legion 2010, Cloverfield 2008, 10 Cloverfield Lane 2016 & the Cloverfield paradox 2018. #MyHorrorfest #HorrorMovies #Horror #DisasterMovies #BiblicalDisasters #CloverfieldHorror #EndtimesMovies

  11. Today's #Disasters lineup I started with a potential #BiblicalDisasterMovie Dogma 1999 then over to #AIDisastersMovies with some #Terminator movies. I don't have or couldn't find all of them but I do have Terminator 2: Judgment Day 1991 (my fav of the franchise) & Terminator: Salvation 2009 & I did find Terminator: Genisys 2015 on Netflix. 1 year I hope to find & watch them all but I haven't as of yet. #MyHorrorfest #DisasterMovies #DisastrousFutures #HorrorMovies #Horror

  12. Today's #Disasters lineup I watched the movie the Day after 1983 (I still remember when this 1st aired on TV & realizing how fucked we'd be & had hope we voted in competent leaders after that but... here we are!), the #StephenKing mini series the Stand 1994 & on Prime I watched a fav I haven't collected yet Phantoms 1998. #MyHorrorfest #NuclearDisaster #InfectiousDisaster #EndTimeMovies #EvilTakeovers #AncientEvil #HorrorMovies #Horror #DisasterMovies

  13. 3 things about David Lowell Rich’s THE CONCORDE… AIRPORT ’79 [1979]

    1. Why exactly is #Charo flying from Paris to Moscow? I want a movie about that story.
    2. Shooting the flare while the plane’s upside down.
    3. Coming to the cockpit for a good cry.

  14. I don't know about you, but this is the Alain Delon film I'll be watching in remembrance this evening.

It's also the perfect inspiration for shooting MY LAST MARTINI tomorrow: all I have to do is to *not* do what David Lowell Rich did.

  15. 3 things about Jerry Jameson’s AIRPORT ’77 [1977]

    1. Their only pairing outside of BELL, BOOK AND CANDLE yet James Stewart and Jack Lemmon don’t even trade dialog in this scene.
    2. Dorothy plays a video game.
    3. Why exactly is Julie on this flight anyway? Just because she’s the boyfriend of the piano man?

  16. 3 things about Jack Smight’s AIRPORT 1975 [1974]

    1. Take a shot every time Charlton Heston calls her “honey.”
    2. Her manuscript and tape recorder take the place of her jewels in the bomb-proof carrying case.
    3. The only reason he’s on the plane is to watch the in-flight movie?!

Did everything Jack Smight touch turn to crap? Or was it already crap and he just did what he had to do, but poorly?

  17. 3 things about George Seaton’s AIRPORT [1970]

    1. “I’m going to move this mother by midnight!”
    2. A plate of tiny sandwiches.
    3. She moves through the throng, tearfully apologizing. Everyone ignores her.

  19. Our monthly bonus chat is live! This special episode focuses on a simple question - Why can't Hollywood make a good climate change movie? This was prompted by @xtinadlr 's rewatch of The Day After Tomorrow some time ago, and as a scientist and solarpunk, she was both horrified and offended.

Join us as she gets it out of her system, and we deep-dive into this example of the representation of climate catastrophe on the silver screen!

  20. 3 things about Sam Esmail’s LEAVE THE WORLD BEHIND [2023]

  23. Earthquake (1974) has everything that I love in a 70s disaster movie. If I wanted to explain the genre to someone I'd say go see Earthquake. Plus it has Chuck Heston. And it still looks cool. With no CGI!

  24. Rollercoaster (1977) gets lumped into the disaster movie genre but it's really a suspense thriller, and a very good and very exciting one. It's about a brilliant evil extortionist who targets amusement parks, especially the rollercoasters.

  25. I love 70s disaster movies but The Hindenburg (1975) doesn't quite come off, despite some interesting ideas. Since it was a real disaster so we know exactly what's going to happen it tries to focus on why it might have happened.

  26. The Night My Number Came Up is a 1955 Ealing Studios production and it’s one of those odd little movies that they don’t make nowadays (and more’s the pity). A kind of semi-paranormal vaguely supernatural psychological suspense aviation thriller.

It starts with a dream about a plane crash.

    And it's superb.
