#MutualAid Update:

Had to increase the immediate need amount to $250 because of a couple of late incoming bills.

Also, next rent comes due on August 1st, so that's another $600 due by then.

So, goal for 8/1 now set at $1,000.

My SSDI appeal is still awaiting review according to my legal representatives, so that is still in limbo. No income until that is resolved.

UPDATE: ONLY ONE DAY LEFT TO PAY MY RENT OR FACE POSSIBLE EVICTION!!! $650 SHORT!! RENT DUE DAY AFTER TOMMOROW!!!

Progress has been made since I last posted: a $600 donation from a generous moot put a significant dent into my delinquent bills, enough so that most of them have been cleared. THANK YOU, "C"!!!

I AM NOT QUITE OUT OF THE WOODS YET, though; I am still $650 short of what is needed on the more critical end-of-the-month utility bills, especially my next rent that comes due on Friday. I still face the threat of eviction if this is not paid on time.

Still hoping to avoid last-minute incessant begposting....but if I have to resort to that, forgive me in advance. I didn't choose to be in this crucible.

OK...I said that I wasn't going to do this here, but since it has been going on for a good while, I thought it would be proper to explain to you my current medical and disability situation and why I have been soliciting for survival funds for the past 2 years, as well as what the future may portend. I will not use this space for direct requests, since I have my main RGC site at Mastodon forth that; but I will provide a lengthy background on how I got to this point.

I have a medical condition that causes me to endure chronic vertigo (as in dizziness) and even fainting spells (synacope) if I move around too suddenly or too excessively. It is a condition that I have suffered from for the past 10 or so years, but it has been exaserbated by the extra work I had to do in my last job as an overnight stockperson. I ended up making frequent trips to the emergency room for treatment whenever these spells would hit me.

It got to the point that I ended up filing for and receiving paid sick leave, which then was converted into short-term and then long-term paid disability leave. I was ultimately induced to voluntarily terminate my employment in January of 2023 because me and my employer could not agree on another position I could take with accomodations for my medical condition.

I relied on both my employer's paid leave, then my employer's insurance company's long-term disability leave, for paying my basic expenses (rent, food, utilities, etc.), until the insurance company decided in January of 2024 that I wasn't considered in their mind disabled enough to receive payments and avoid returning to active work. I appealed their decision though their processes, with testimony from my own personal doctor that I was not able to return to active work; but all appeals were unsuccessful.

As part of the requirements for receiving long-term disability, I was required to file for Federal/State disability benefits through their SSI/SSDI program. Thus far, all appeals have been unsuccessful; I am currently in the stage of appealing to the Joint Advisory Council after my appeal was denied before a Administrative Judge, using the same criteria my insurance company used. My case is as of now in the queue awaiting review; I do have legal representation helping me out.

Ultimately, by May of next year I will be able to apply for Social Security at the earliest retirement age (62) and receive benefits there; until then or my appeals are resolved in my favor, however, I am essentially penniless with no means other than crowdfunding to raise funds for my essential expenses. Hence, my need to appeal to the kindness of strangers for survival funds.

So far, thanks to the generous and kind donations from both strangers and friends, I have been able to survive this crucible for this long. If I can make it to next May and secure SS funds, or have my appeals for SSDI/SDI be successful before that, I will be able to not be so dependent on begposting to strangers. Until that happens, however, your kind help has allowed me to get through this, and I am hoping and praying (as a secular Leftist Black man can pray) that you have the empathy and kindness and surplus ability to continue to help me through this situation.

Although I am taking medication that mitigates some of the aftereffects of my condition, I still cannot risk going back to active work for fear of relapsing. My personal doctor has continued to concur with this; however, considering the current social trends of forcing disabled people back to work and denying them any means of sufficient relief just so billionaires can buy 2 more yachts at our expense; it's not looking so well for my appeal for disability funds.

All I can ask of you all is to empathize with what I am facing, and if you wish to help me out, donate some of your excess funds to help me pay my basic expenses until I can finally get out of this situation.
