@avilewis Bonnie Henry removing mask mandates resulted in my Dad getting infected by #unmasked hospital staff. He died from covid cardiac arrest in 2023. This was government sanctioned #murder by #eugenics policies. Every single political party has failed to protect citizens, especially most vulnerable ones. Every single politician has normalized eugenics. That will end up costing provincial & federal governments, millions, if not billions to deal with long covid & many other preventable health issues. You have an opportunity to do better & lead by a more humane, not eugenics, living example. Start by normalizing wearing masks indoors again.

Ableism Enables All Forms of Inequity and Hampers All Liberation Efforts. Ableism has been used for generations to degrade, oppress, control and disappear disabled and nondisabled people alike.

In this engaging interview, Talila A. Lewis argues that ableism has deep implications for every other marginalized identity. In short, ableism, according to Lewis, is at the root of other powerful hegemonic sites — from race and class to colonialism and nationality. This #BCgovernment doesn't really care about #PeopleWithDisabilities. Programs/services/supports for #disabled citizens have been cut, budgets slashed; we face years plus long waiting lists to access both medical & disability support services, we live under #eugenics public health policies, our BC government still denies prescription coverage for several essential medications, funding for nonprofits that help disabled people live/work has been fully cut or severely reduced. That's only the tip of the inhumane cruelty icebergs - when it comes to how our governments have #dehumanized & mistreated us disabled citizens. Their dishonest PR speeches do not align with the hard realities that people with disabilities in BC face, regularly.
