On Tuesday, the #DigitalSummit #EUsummit25 took place in #Berlin.
Our alliance was represented there by several organisations, but only behind the scenes. There were very few representatives of civil society on stage.
Unfortunately, digital infrastructures oriented towards the common good did not play a role in the discussions. Neither social networks nor the role of OSS for digital sovereignty were sufficiently included.
We will continue to advocate for our four demands after the summit. ✨

Die Unternehmensberatung Bain & Company hat gerade errechnet, dass KI-Unternehmen im Jahr 2030 zwei Billionen (richtig gelesen: zweitausend Milliarden) US-Dollar einnehmen müssten, um ihre Ausgaben für Rechenleistung zu decken. Prognostiziert sind 1,2 Billionen, es fehlen also schlappe 800 Milliarden US-Dollar. „Systemrelevante“ Banken, anyone?" 💥 💣 💥

Ich wäre sehr interessiert, wie und wann diese europäische IT-Infrastruktur zustande kommen soll, und wie es gemeint ist, wenn gesagt wird: Wir brauchen europäische digitale Souveränität, aber natürlich machen wir das nicht alleine, sondern mit Partnern.

Doch der #Digitalgipfel legt einen klaren Fokus auf Unternehmen und ihre Interessen und beachtet nur wenig die Zivilgesellschaft. Wie groß der Anteil der Einladungen im Vergleich ist, wollte man mir trotz mehrerer Nachfragen nicht beantworten. Für die Politik gab es auf jeden Fall so wenige, dass nicht mal die Fraktionsreferent*innen teilnehmen können.

W czasie #DigitalSummit w Gdańsku organizacje z Europy i USA walczące o ochronę demokracji i prawa człowieka w kontekście zagrożeń technologicznych i geopolitycznych wypracowały wspólny apel do nowej, duńskiej prezydencji, w którym pokazują inną stronę bezpieczeństwa cyfrowego.
Technologiczna suwerenność i odporność w wojnie kognitywnej wymaga nie tylko zadbania o twardą infrastrukturę (serwerownie, chipy i gigafabryki AI), ale też o protokoły i platformy komunikacyjne.

Na #DigitalSummit #Gdansk wzięliśmy udział w panelu dotyczącym deregulacji rynku cyfrowego – oczka w głowie polskiej Prezydencji.
Z wieloma obserwacjami się zgadzamy:
- brak jasności, jak „stare” regulacje, takie jak RODO, mają się do nowych aktów prawnych jak DSA czy AI Act,
- sprzeczności między nimi lub niepotrzebne dublowanie rozwiązań.
Rozumiemy też frustrację usługodawców, która się z tym wiąże i wspieramy uporządkowanie tej sfery, bo wiemy, że na końcu koszty i tak ponoszą konsumenci.
