Ich persönlich bin dabei übrigens durchaus von dem feature "advanced privacy" in murenas /e/OS/ angetan, dass den Datenabfluss auf die Zielserver per IP-Blocking unterbindet. 😉

Macht richtig Spaß, OpenDesk für den Arbeitgeber zu testen! 🤩 Mein Eindruck: Eine echte Alternative, auch wenn es hier und da noch "klemmt'. Allerdings müssen noch Sachen wie S/MIME und zentrale Dokumentenvorlagen funktionieren. Aber die Testphase läuft ja auch noch.

Well, if you would like to avoid #operatingsystem (OS) #enshittification, I really recommend getting in touch to your local #FOSS community and run #Linux on your machine.
It's almost perfectly shit-free, you can update the whole OS as well as all(!) applications with one command any time YOU decide, it runs much faster (yes, even many Windows apps including most #games if you can invest some efforts here), doesn't require you to switch hardware after a couple of years, doesn't suck out any personal data of you, and doesn't force #AI slob onto you.
Not to mention the huge difference in #security.
Take back control yourself and #digitalSouvereignity will follow.
As a direct competitor of enterprise grade operating systems like Red Hat Linux and Microsoft Windows, Suse Linux needs to remain in European hands.

Their policies may change any time as we've seen in many cases of big corps already.
Their ability to provide secure software is mostly a myth from old times. They pushed extremely embarrassing security bugs multiple times which not only means that their testing processes are insufficient.

Having absolute trust in a shareholders obliged company, you may face massive backfire some day.
If you are *really* looking for maximum level of protection, there's nothing better as a #Pixel 8 or higher (also from 2nd hand market) with #GrapheneOS flashed (it's very easy via web browser + USB cable and a 2nd #Android device) and a self-chosen level of #Google integration.
You may go without any Google service at all or you can opt in for a sandboxed version of them.

If you're using #Disqus for comments on your #blog, I'd urge you to think of switching to a different workflow without any third party.
Besides the bad UX (IMO), Disqus is also categorizing comments as spam where it clearly isn't the case at all. 😔
If you don't get many comments, even email + manually adding them to the article might be an option.
At the moment, #publicvoit has email + Disqus but my plans for getting rid of Disqus are growing.

Did I mention how happy I am that we started running our own services for our critical infrastructure? For example, if we'd now rely on Docker Hub, we wouldn't be able to deploy or scale or auto-heal anything in our clusters.
It's not said that our own services have less downtime. But at least we can do something about it, and it doesn't affect 20% of the internet.
The ten biggest #TechCompanies spend three(!) times more for lobbying than the top 10 spenders of #pharma #finance #automotive industries which are known for having very effective #lobbying.
Next time you complain about the oh so bad #pharma industry, don't do it on the platforms of the #MegaCorps whose greed you're feeding. 😉

Digging more into the Austrian Military's switch from MS Office to Libre Office. The money side is fascinating. They acknowledge that training and getting accustomed to the new interface will consume any savings in the first few years. To me, that speaks to how realistic they view this project and that it is more than just a money-saving attempt. Let's make sure we see more of these projects in the future.
