Thank you to friends and colleagues striking today. Fighting to make all our lives better, to allow us to see some future in academia. We aren't asking for much. Fair pay and better working conditions, particularly for ECR who suffer precarious contracts. There are so many dedicated staff, wanting to make a great student experience. Universities exploit this.

I don’t work in academia, but I’m a member of #UCU (and the BSA & other strike-supporting orgs). I won’t be working on research or posting about it today. Solidarity with my striking colleagues in universities, who deserve fair pay, decent pensions and secure contracts. (And I’m glad to see that the #DigitalPicketLine hashtag is a thing, for those of us who can’t cope with the noise/standing/cold/etc of physical picket lines, and for independent UCU members!) #UCUStrike

In #solidarity with the part-time faculty union striking at The New School for a fair contract, I am withholding my labor as a non-union full-time faculty member by suspending my classes and not crossing the #DigitalPicketLine which means no Canvas, Zoom, Google apps, etc.
