  1. Procurement teams are architecture teams whether they admit it or not. Contract length, exit clauses, data rights, and integration obligations shape the estate for years. #Procurement #Architecture #DigitalGovernment

  2. Public sector AI governance gets serious the moment you ask who explains the decision to a citizen, an auditor, and a judge. If nobody can, the control isn't mature yet. #GovAI #DataEthics #DigitalGovernment

  3. Conversational AI Streamlines Citizen Services in Mexico by 2026

  4. Public sector interoperability usually dies in procurement, not code. If the contract rewards bespoke delivery and vague data rights, don't act shocked when integration becomes theatre. Architecture starts at the commercial model. #EnterpriseArchitecture #Procurement #DigitalGovernment

  5. If your transformation plan still treats procurement as a back-office step, don't call it strategic. Commercial choices decide architecture long before the first sprint board appears. #Procurement #EnterpriseArchitecture #DigitalGovernment

  6. Rwanda has signed an AI partnership with Anthropic to deploy AI in health, education, and public services.
Commentary frames this as another leapfrogging moment. Skipping legacy systems. Going straight to AI‑native government.
Does this set a blueprint for Africa, or a high‑risk experiment?

  7. From Italy to Europe: publiccode.yml is transforming how public administrations describe, share, and reuse open-source software. 🌍

Introduced in 2020, it provides a common standard for transparency, interoperability, quality, and long-term maintainability — and since 2025 it’s been a cornerstone of the EU Open Source Solutions Catalogue.

  8. Do we need a new #NewPublicManagement ? How to finally move the needle on #technology within the #state and implement #DigitalGovernment?

Interesting conversation on those questions in this #OddLots episode, highlighting the importance of #merit in hiring, difficulties in evaluating performance and the issue of a risk-mindset as well as the tendency to quickly develop a lot of new procedures and services while having difficulty properly managing the whole #ecosystem

In particular the #PublicSector (not just in the US) also has to deal with #TacitKnowledge and an shifting age pyramid among employees

  16. I am excited to be presenting an accessibility workshop for #InnovateUS. I will be focusing on taking a role-based approach for accessibility. Subject-matter experts (SME) have their role, but too often responsibilities in government are hardened and accessibility becomes someone else's responsibility. Taking a role-based approach can fix barriers earlier in the project's lifecycle.

  17. How is it 2024 and the GOVUK “Replace a lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed driving licence” service hasn’t been updated to the GDS service standard? Simple process but really hard to complete on mobile. #DigitalGovernment #GOVUK #DigitalServices #DigitalServiceStamdard #GDS #DVLA #UKGov #DrivingLicence #GovernmentDigitalService

  18. Another article on #OpenSource, this time written by Richard Pope, who was one of the founding members of the UK’s #GDS. There is just so much for which governments can benefit by engaging with the open source communities that they use. Furthermore, the government contributing their work back to the public #GitHub or #GitLab repositories makes the code more secure and drives down the costs for #DigitalGovernment.

  19. The #GDS Service Standard and design has brought trust and ease of use to many #GOVUK websites. The start page for renewing your driving licence starts well then quickly moves here. If it wasn't on a Gov.uk domain with a valid certificate, I'd have no trust in this and not use the service. #DigitalGovernment #GovernmentDigitalService #DVLA

  20. Another new data free mobile app called Smash’d in SA - But what happened to South African Government's plan to integrate all these into an e-Gov solution?

The idea behind this new app is to capture vehicle collision data by the driver, ultimately to be in future submitted online and prevent taking up the SA Police's time in recording each of these collisions (over 1 million pa) manually when people come in - see iol.co.za/business-report/tech. No-one can argue the excellent idea that has been actioned, but the tragedy of it is we are seeing more and more separate apps that citizens would need to have installed. There was already a new SA Police app launched in 2019 and seeing SAPS captures this info one would expect that app to cater for this, or easily allow this app to integrate with it using the same framework standards. squeet.me/objects/962c3e10b099
