CHINA WON’T 💎There is something slightly surreal about people demanding that we simply stop AI. Stop developing it. Stop using it. Stop feeding it. Shut the whole bloody thing down.
Okay.
BUT THERE IS ONE SMALL PROBLEM.
CHINA.
Even if the entire Western world woke up tomorrow morning, deleted ChatGPT, unplugged every data centre and solemnly promised never to train another AI model, China would not say:
“WELL, FAIR PLAY. WE’LL STOP TOO.”
Nor would India, South Korea, Japan, the Gulf states or anybody else with serious technological ambitions. AI is no longer merely a clever consumer product. It is becoming infrastructure, scientific capability, economic power and military capability. And once that happens, countries do not voluntarily leave the field while their competitors keep playing.
ESPECIALLY AMERICA.
Can anyone seriously imagine the United States government announcing: “China may become the world’s dominant AI power. We have decided we’re comfortable with that.”
I NEARLY HURT MYSELF TYPING THAT LAST BIT LOL.
America is not going to sit quietly and watch China become dominant in strategically important technology. And China is already extremely good at things the West once assumed it would always dominate: manufacturing, batteries, solar, electric vehicles, infrastructure, robotics, transport and increasingly sophisticated technology.
AND SO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ISN’T GOING TO GO AWAY.
That does not mean every use of AI is good. It does not mean corporations should be trusted. It does not mean there should not be regulation, boundaries, transparency or serious arguments about environmental costs, copyright, employment, surveillance and power.
THOSE ARE THE CONVERSATIONS WORTH HAVING.
But “STOPPING AI” is not a realistic plan. That horse has not merely bolted. China is building a faster horse.

Ich lese u.a. daraus einen Beleg neben self-service-Kassen, "das können sie uns auch online mitteilen" eine Welt mit weniger sozialen Interaktionen.
Das macht mich irgendwie traurig, dass selbst bei einem Bewerbungsgespräch anscheinend keine Menschen mehr miteinander reden :blobcatthink:
