  1. Pete Seeger, 2002

While looking for photographs of John Brehm the other day, I came across a contact sheet with some pictures of Pete Seeger.

Here are a few. I took these photos back in 2002, when Ken and I interviewed Seeger at his home in Beacon, NY, for 1913 Massacre. Pete had a fire going when we arrived. Toshi made pumpkin soup for lunch.

These new scans of 25-year-old negatives read pretty well, at least to my eye.

I must have shot these with a Canon EOS Elan and the Canon EF 50mm 1.4 USM lens, both of which I still have and still use. The scans (hi-res jpegs) were made at Accurate Photo, on 5th Avenue and 18th Street in Park Slope.

  2. "A detailed analysis of a full-sized digital scan of the Titanic has revealed new insight into the doomed liner's final hours.

The exact 3D replica shows the violence of how the ship ripped in two as it sank after hitting an iceberg in 1912 - 1,500 passengers lost their lives in the disaster."
