I genuinely worry about a world in which general-purpose computing is locked down by corporations and governments.
I worry about a world where people are deliberately discouraged from understanding even the basics of the computers they depend on. Where everything happens inside gated communities and walled gardens, and the manufacturer (or the operating system vendor, or, Bastet forbid, a government) decides what you may install, change, create, or even understand.
Computers are wonderful things. They can be tools of creativity, curiosity, communication, education and liberation.
But only if they remain free, accessible, understandable, and truly under the control of the people using them.
A computer you are not allowed to control is increasingly becoming something done to you, rather than a tool that belongs to you.
And frankly, that worries me. Quite a lot. 🖥️🏴☠️

The GUI didn't make computing easier. It made you a passenger.
Type cd .. and you're navigating — you know where you are, where you're going. Click the arrow in your filemanager and you're following a path someone else designed. The first is writing. The second is a reflex.
Same logic from the Airbus that overrode its pilot to the spellchecker that corrects you without asking: the machine's judgment overrides yours, silently, automatically.
Not a feature. A philosophical manifesto.
And when writing came back — through the AI — it returned as supplication, not sovereignty. The closed-source GUI and the undisclosed LLM are the same thing.

Ever bought a game you regret? Steam keeps achievements, timestamps, play history, and other identity‑linked data forever. Uninstalling isn’t deletion. Users deserve the ability to fully remove game records while keeping required banking/licensing data intact. Digital ownership should include digital freedom.

tbh the fact that Krita has the most powerful and amazing brush engine makes me giggle all the time. like, people pay for literal crap n spywhere and then ask which premium assets were used but the "premium assets" are just free brushes from a free drawing app :) never stops to make me feel satisfied. ngl i pity some of them who just never knew other options other than Adobe exist. but those who chose paid spyware? nay, i look down at them and am not ashamed. those who chose to support the enemy and to suffer in the process dont look like those who can change their mindsets, 'tis like donating to muskrat and sometimes 'tis even literally that. and they dont even get all the cool perks n features we have here in FOSS, wtf for what exactly they suffer if they dont even have anything real cool lol. like, i was an Apple user. involuntarily! but i still treat it as experience and think of it as a kinda valuable experience cuz i have all the rights to say how shitty Apple is in reality. oh fuck how i hate Apple, i could rant for whole days if i wanted to spoil my mood lol. they couldnt even steal the original code normally, they made that creepy abomination. and yet still my tech i bought for FOSS stuff costed me more than my Apple tech... amazes me every time but ig 'tis cuz my normal tech is actually good and reliable lol. and aye once again repeating it, Procreate is not suitable for dysfunctional folks, its UI was a fucking torture for me, it almost made me quit drawing cuz i was sure all apps are made this way, yet i risked and we got me a Tab for Krita and Krita appeared to be superb and a hundred times better than i expected. so, i better fr will just donate to FOSS guys when i can, enjoy their cool stuff and promote it.

and i finally made a discord account, damn it took me fr long with all the captchas (once the bitch would know my location is the UK it'd momentarily lock me behind the age verification crap lmao). prolly will be checking as seldom as i do with emails and use it for commissions later cuz i dont plan to upgrade my tuta account to make it a business one and i dont want to upgrade proton to be able to get a second account for that stuff. also lots of people have exactly discord instead of something normal like element etc, which makes me feel uncomfortable and tired. i will never be comfortable on platforms like discord and will never discuss anything personal there, all this shite is a pure unmasked spyware with zero protection and encryption and they all are fascist bootlickers with their age verification so kinda fuck them. but sadly i had to get an account there to stay in touch with some folks from artfight. nay, shitter or instacrap accounts are never gonna happen to me, discord was the lesser sacrifice to say so. i tbh cant get how the fuck people use signal messenger if this crap requires a phone verification, 'tis like the biggest red flag and i dont care how secure this shite is fr fr.

Because of recent ToS of #codeberg, I have to write few words.
I am from Iran. For years, we've been blocked by the US sanctions. These sanctions didn't hurt the regime much. But it does hurt me people greatly. The US isn't shy about doing whatever they want with other nations for their benefits or in the name of fighting terrorism.
#cryptocurrency has been a way for us to trade with parties abroad without any government, America or our own, being able to censor the money transfer.
Imagine, if one day the US government puts a sanction on the whole Europe, what will citizens of each side could do?
That's the power the traditional money system gives to the governments. If a US citizen wants to give me money for a job, or vice versa, what right does our governments have to prevent us from doing so? Why the governments have to interfere with every single thing their citizen does?
