  1. The #POTA triple is done with today's activation. This time I worked #digimodes only on 5 bands, starting with #10m and ending on #20m.
Several stations from #Africa could be heard today and I managed to work a few.
    48 QSO in the end.
    Thanks hunters!

  3. Marvellous weather conditions pulled me outdoors to do another #POTA activation. #40m, #20m and #17m were fun for #SSB and #Digimodes. North America and Japan were in the log. In the end 84 QSO.
    Thanks hunters!

  5. After building the #QRPLabs QMX+ transceiver I got a bit into #WSPR, #FT8 and #FT4 to see how far 3 to 5 Watts can get me.

There's not much else in the #hamradio world that puzzles me as much as the lack of support for compund or special callsigns in these modes. On one instance I couldn't make an FT8 call from my station EA8/DC6ST to a Russian ham visiting Belarus because the two compound callsigns did not leave any space for signal reports or even a "73" in the message.

  9. One more attempt at #FreeDV tomorrow then I give up.

I got a brief blast of decoded audio on 60m this afternoon, but then the Linux laptop decided to unilaterally change the audio settings.
I think the FreeDV program is sound, but there seems to be something weird going on between my TS590s and the laptop.

It doesn't help that there's not a lot of activity to test the set up with

  11. I'm still not sure if I like it, but at least I give it a try: Lately I'm experimenting with #ft8 on #10m & #15m in #portable operations. I want to get a feeling for #digimodes.

It's surprisingly challenging doing this when being /p. And I have one big issue, maybe you can help me?

Why is it that in MOST of my QSOs on FT8 the OMs write at least 5 times their report and don't get my final „RR 73“ in the meantime? Even when getting a good report? Any ideas? I'm doing 15W with a #Xiegu G90.

  13. WSJT-X Improved adds some great functionality to the basic program. In this week's video I show you a few of the most important ones youtube.com/watch?v=n49qDuDYCs

  15. I've got the #hamRadio set up turned on today.
Bimbling around on various bands with #FT8 - 10m seems to be shaping up nicely. 60m is completely dead.

I know that #digimodes have their detractors but they are easy to use, are reliable, and can easily be picked up and put down in the middle of doing other things.

  17. Got a shipping notification from a courier today for a package originating in Turkey…. Figured it was a scam, but no, it’s my long-forgotten pre-ordered #QRP #QDX Digital Transceiver from #QRPLabs - I’m now rather excited! #HamRadio #HamR #AmateurRadio #AmateurFunk #FT8 #DigiModes qrp-labs.com/qdx.html

  19. Redoing my #introductions post since there's a lot of you again:

I'm a #general class ham in the Washington DC area. I mostly work #HF. I the worst mic shyness on the planet so I tend to stick to #digimodes; sometimes I go outside at obscene hours to wave my #yagi around & talk through a #satellite. I try to do the weekly #hellschreiber & #winlink (#FFWN) nets, & you should too! If you're a #QRZ member from #Vermont let's set up a #sked because you're the last state I need for that #WAS award.

  21. I just spent 10 minutes typing out my ideal #cyberdeck / tablet / blackberry / pocket PC that can interface with my #HF radio for #digimodes until I realized I described the crappy Eee #netbook that's been rotting in the bottom of my electronics drawer.

The only thing that would improve it is if I could upgrade the processor somehow because it's struggling with even a lightweight linux install.

  22. After a bit of messing about, I've managed to get my #Yaesu #ft981 working with #wsjtx through #hamradiodeluxe via the #scu17 interface. I've also got #log4om working alongside this configuration with #gridtracker

  23. This morning's TX and RX test. 4W is doing pretty well from the indoor #magloop, but a bit more power would clearly be useful. Bands 15, 12, 10 metres. Warning! Indoor ham radio leads to mess! 😂 #hamradio #amateurradio #ft8 #digimodes

  24. Had a surprise 30m JT65A QSO with LA8BCA this morning. Just 5W into a 1m-per side magloop in the garage. I used to love JT65; I would always have sunset QSOs whilst cooking the kids' teatime after school. So leisurely and enjoyable. #digimodes #hamradio #magloop

  25. #introductions Hi, i'm Milosz, from SP. I have a loooong (25y.) break and reactivate licence last month. I'm present on #fediverse already, but decided to keep hamradio topics on separate account. Interested in #sstv #fax #digimodes, #qrp, #diy projects, i would like to try #ballons / #hab . Committed to #foss, openhardware and #soc programming.

Hi! My name is Sven and I was born in 1984. I‘m a HAM since 2001 and upgraded my license only 20y later (Dec 2021) 😁.
I’m located in the very west of Germany in a city called Duisburg (JO31IJ).
I‘m interested in #homebrew #qrp #digimodes (but not FT8) #RaspberryPi and I like QSOs that go on for longer than 10 minutes. A few weeks ago I started learning CW.
