I saw the film when it first came out and remember enjoying it then. I haven't watched it since then, and I wonder how I would feel about it now.

Kahlo the artist? Hmmm...interesting, but currently overvalued? I'm not sure. I get distracted less by the kitsch merchandise than by the drama both personal and political filling her life and those of Diego Rivera, Tina Modotti, and Leon Trotsky.

Sometimes I worry that the Kahlo cult has so overshadowed Rivera and the other Mexican muralists that their achievement and its continuing importance does not receive all the attention it should.

I rather like Salma Hayek, so can't bear it when people call her "Selma".
