Le #Diplo du mois apporte une critique de musicophile qui va dans le même sens :On l’entend [(le #rébétiko)] même dans un des thèmes-cultes de #PulpFiction (1994), ce film de #QuentinTarantino au retentissement international. #Misirlou (mot dérivé de l’arabe et du turc qui signifie « l’Égyptienne ») a connu plusieurs versions #rébétiko dans les années 1920 et 1930, jusqu’à celle de #NikosRoubanis en 1943 à l’orchestration #jazz, devenue le standard parmi les nombreux enregistrements que l’on doit à la diaspora grecque établie en #Amérique, notamment à #NewYork. La chanson devient un tube avec la reprise instrumentale à la guitare électrique de #DickDale en 1963, suivi des #BeachBoys l’année suivante, avant la version de #PulpFiction trente ans plus tard. Musique nationale ancestrale, le #rébétiko s’est ainsi retrouvé au cœur d’une grande production américaine, devenant élément marketing d’une industrie culturelle hégémonique.
