I love tabletop games generally, but I'm always particularly fascinated by very small, portable games. This tiny matchbox game called "Sea Monsters Battle" by Sharkyuu Games cost only ¥500 when I bought it a few years ago and it has so much charm. I adore the vintage art style. It seems to have been part of a series of matchbox games that are easy to learn so you could use them as conversation starters in a pub or wherever. J/E bilingual too!

Ever wanted to use 5 six-sided dice to beat up something? Do you have kids wanting to play games and you want to teach them math and patterns? Now’s your chance with Amphitheater! Amphitheater is a game of push your luck to attempt to take out an opponent who is also pushing their own luck to stop you from taking them out.
All one needs are 5 six-sided dice. Each player will need an additional die to record their health.
Before the game begins, determine play order (e.g. youngest player to oldest or rolling dice). Next, each player sets their health die to show 6.
Once play begins, each player declares the player they are “attacking”. Next, the player rolls the 5 dice, setting aside any dice they want to have for effect, and, optionally, roll the dice not held one last time. Look up on the effect table to determine how much damage they deal. If damage is dealt, the defending player does the same as an attack. This means the player rolls 5 dice, setting aside any dice desired, and, optionally, rolling any dice not held. Finally, they will look up on the effect table and subtract from the damage the effect value. If there is any damage remaining, move the health die of the defending player down by 1.
