A good thread from @JankaWessman. It is heartening to hear a psychiatrist talk about #resilience building and the perils of #diagnosis and the importance of (my words, but on theme 👉🏼) allowing #distress to be distress without necessarily freaking out. Includes a good perspective from #evolutionary #psychology and on the narrow-mindedness of binaries.

The more I get into #psychology the more it seems a lot of #theories are built upon #pseduologic and made by horrible #people. And lot of #diagnosis criteria seem rather abstract and subjective. Like what’s flamboyant? What’s deviant?  What’s extreme? Too many times things are viewed through a #traditionalist, #capitalistic, #Western lens.

The more I get into #psychology the more it seems a lot of #theories are built upon #pseduologic and made by horrible #people. And lot of #diagnosis criteria seem rather abstract and subjective.
