Has anyone read Dhalgren by Samuel R. Delany? Or there of his books? If not I can't recommend him enough.
I should read Dhalgren again. I had a tough time with it, but I made it to the end. But I might have an easier time upon reading it again -
As the sun prepares to climb into the sky for heat dome day 3 and another roumd of temps over 100F, I am reminded of that scene, one of the more terrifying setpieces in Dhalgren, when "...one day a red sun swollen to hundreds of times its normal size rises to terrify the populace, then retreats across the sky to set on the same horizon."
