  3. @tillgrallert

    Very useful, thanks!

Looks like 176 DH people with a Mastodon account vs. 61 with a Bluesky account, and 189 total results... I have a hunch those might not be representative numbers.

Seems like a platform-dependent bias. The query yields 4742 DH'ers, when the filter for a social media handle is removed. And many of those will have social media accounts on either platform that are missing from Wikidata, I suppose.

  7. Changing hotels this afternoon and LOL, #DH2026 is definitely in town! Many familiar faces in elevators, at reception desks, or in the hotel café. This is going to be great!

  9. Another #DH2026 travel tip - the trains from Seoul are busy! If you haven’t booked in advance, consider a bus direct from Incheon to Daejeon.

Also, yes, it really is warm and humid at the moment! But so many lovely parks and the riverside to cool down in

  11. #tourdefleece Day 23: I guess Sunday July 26th is the last day, but thanks to time zones I'm getting there faster than most folks. So it feels apt to end things with spinning on a Korean high-speed train, heading to #DH2026 in Daejeon from Seoul. #DHmakes

  13. #DH2026 Another pro tip: get the Naver app for public transport, walking routes, cafes, restaurants and more!

It brought us here, to the Stone Coffee Premium. Great matcha latte and watermelon juice!

Also, Uber works well and is quite affordable!

  15. Currently at the Daejeon Museum of Art, definitely worth a visit!

There is an exhibition with works by upcoming artists from the region, and a retrospective on Lee Jungseop.

We liked both, admission is cheap (bring cash or Korean credit card), and it is not far from #DH2026.

  17. More #DH2026 travel tips - you need an arrival card even if on UK etc passport. Do it online or ask on the flight.

The bus from the airport to Daejeon / Daejeoncheongsa was easy to find. Looks like it runs regularly.

Google Translate with pre-downloaded Korean and translating photos also helps!

  19. Wish I could be in Daejeon with everyone for #DH2026, but two trips to Korea in less than two months was not in the cards. Skeet lots, friends! I'll be following along from the Jerz

  21. Trying to find digital humanists on #Mastodon and #Bluesky in time for #DH2026? You could start with this SPARQL query on #Wikidata: query.wikidata.org/embed.html#

And add your own handles to Wikidata, if you want to be found.

EDIT: improved query to display clickable links to profiles

  26. #DH2026 I've heard my usual travel card (Monzo) doesn't work as well in South Korea so I'm trying Wowpass for convenience stores and street / small vendors. Took a few goes to find a bank card it worked with, so allow some time for that, or get cash to top it up.

Looking forward to my bus adventure from Incheon to Daejeoncheongsa for Daejeon!

  28. Anyone participating in or interested in #DH2026 in Daejeon, this year's edition of the annual, international Digital Humanities Conference:

Please participate actively in the conversations on open social media platforms, like for instance Mastodon, and don't let all that communication energy flow into closed platforms like the conference app or Linkedin.

The open web is where we bring in new people and where anyone with an interest in DH can join the conversation.

    We can do it!

  30. Also, for anyone visiting Daejeon for #DH2026, the big digital humanities conference, I heartily recommend visiting some local cafes in Daejeon and anywhere else in Korea for some great coffee and often a really interesting atmosphere!
Cafe Teri in Daejeon has been on my to-visit list for ages!

  34. Thrilled to have arrived in Daejeon, South Korea, for the annual Digital Humanities Conference #DH2026!

It will be a busy week! Apart from some committee meetings, I'll be on a panel in the "Playing Heaven" mini-conference, will help moderate the "Digital and/or Comparative Literature" mini-conference, present a poster on "Mapping DH" and will support Julia Röttgermann when she presents our paper on the "Le Masque" crime fiction series.

  41. Okay, got the essentials packed for the #DH2026 #DHmakes workshop! Surely I can squeeze in a week of clothes in there somewhere, too, right?

  43. Woke up and realized that #DH2026 is something I'm leaving for tomorrow, so maybe should really get on top of packing, logistics, and all those other things I have been blissfully ignoring.

Starting with sewing some clothes, obviously. #DHmakes
