a bit like a ghost in a haunted house, if folk just ignored and politely told the cloudflarers/fashbook bots why they are ignoring, they would go away pretty fast ;p

this basic firewall has helped me heaps as a linux enjoyer, not just to polietly ignore cloudflarers and fashbookers, but also the goog-aligned, the amzoned and the microdaft, and other creepy crawlies.

setup is a bunch of bash commands

@nateb yeah this stuff takes years.... know ***EXACTLY*** what u mean. It's even easier said than done to "provide pictures", good to hear Pop is awesome, i'll take that on board.

it sounds like you have a good method for testing ur site ;) glad i brough up a few things that gelled...

@torproject might want to clarify but their port53 catching system can't be toggled w a user friendly gui, i think. in contrast, i don't know how #dns redirection works with private vpns, some are gui applications, right? or are we just talking about the browser config and not the whole os? putting up firewall rules on a site might be too advanced tho... the #DFCA system teaches iptables which can read well, but it lacks a gui setup and easy updates, last i checked requires running a shell script. i think they plan to fix that iirc.

You said to keep u updated on addons so i'll just tell u there ***IS*** a browser addon that only blocks cloudflare, called Block #Cloudflare MITM Attack. but it only does cf and iirc, i don't think it use ip addresses but the http header. if interested you can read the source code by changing the filename to a .zip and uncompressing.

i like what you've been able to put together, yes it does lean toward private vpn, and i'm not sure whether a page around wifi modem setup is missing, but aside from those things its GOOD in my eyes! i like it!

Its easy to forget to check. Best is to have a checking reflex. We say tunnel #DNS through #Tor (port 5353 is typical for this, and on linux you can easily setup this with #iptables). A person can optionally do full #TransparentTorification where *all* traffic goes through Tor but is not needed here.

Now just expose and block any #technoFash with command:

Not just Goo' but they send data to 'ScAm'azon and CloudFlare too.

Try running Digital Feudalism Counter Action (#DFCA) firewall that blocks the CAGEMAFIA servers with a little notification. Even turning off "features" in Firefox will have you reported to a techno-fascist.

Email is unusable today due to Goo' and M'Shaft.

By the way, we have been using DFCA #bigTechBlocker and found that a concerning number of #bigTech firms are running #I2P nodes. One is (very conspicuously) running both #Tor (non-bridging nodes) and I2P nodes.

Please do not use #eventBrite.

It is 'reverse-proxied' by an #Amazon service called #CloudFront*. Reverse-proxy means it unencrypts all traffic to "ensure quality of service". Back when encryption of sites was a basic priority this would be called #spyware, or a #ManInTheMiddleAttack.

It also apparently has a way to tell the user which app tried 'phoning home'.

Looking forward to testing it.

Because #privacy is never given, it needs to be taken. Thus a solution like DFCA sounds about right.
