Window Treatment Note: To be fair, Dexy was probably first to rip the thin curtain panel a bit when she fell off the top of the loveseat during a snooze. Whisper also likes to perch at that spot, but without incident. Jinx has since added his touches to it, turning it into a feline art project. I have sturdier drapes to replace it, but I’m curious if he’ll manage to turn the panel into a valance first.

it was Dexy’s day at the vet. The first attempt to get her into the carrier was a success until she spun around inside, the weight shift knocking the carrier off the box it was on, plus the whole door came off and she escaped out the top, which wasn’t latched down. But she did give me a second chance (unlike Whisper), which went better. She’s about the same weight as before and her mutant claw didn’t grow into her pad this time. The elusive North Dakota Wooly Bear (Nebelungia Dexybella) is considerably larger than the common wooly bear, a lighter shade of black, and forgoes the tacky reddish band seen on most. Unlike most lepidopterans, it emits a deep purr when held, pet or is otherwise pleased. Sighting one is a rare pleasure and folklore suggests it is a harbinger of impending good fortune.
