H.M.S. Lion seems an odd inclusion on this card, especially as it is written by an "Edith", but maybe her beau was aboard...? For this H.M.S. Lion was a ex-"ship of the line", built in the 1840s, and converted to steam about twenty years after. Twenty years after that, she was converted into a Royal Navy training ship, and anchored at H.M. Dockyard, in Devonport. But just two years after this card was penned she was no more, sold off, for scrap, in 1905.

I won my final game to become Tasmanian Open Chess Champion 2026.
I then ran a junior tournament after with about 25 local kids showing up to play.

Yesterday was exhausting. I left my house about 7am, and didn't get home until nearly 11pm. I did manage two wins and a draw, though, and I'm clear first going into the last round this morning.
