As mudanças que a Marvel está propondo para os filmes do MCU, depois de tanta tranqueira produzida nos últimos anos, estão surtindo algum efeito, embora eu continue achando que investir em cineastas não-autores ou investir em autores para cortar as asas deles (como fizeram com Sam Raimi e Chloé Zhao) seja um erro. De todo modo, compreendo a intenção de manter as produções nos trilhos e considero acertos filmes mais recentes, como THUNDERBOLTS* e QUARTETO FANTÁSTICO: PRIMEIROS PASSOS, que funcionam individualmente e não apenas como mais um tijolinho desse universo cinematográfico.

Em HOMEM-ARANHA: UM NOVO DIA (2026), o Aranha/Peter Parker de Tom Holland finalmente ganha uma maior semelhança com o herói dos quadrinhos, agora que aparece mais solitário e angustiado, mas sem perder o bom humor. Zendaya segue mostrando por que é uma das atrizes mais importantes da atualidade e faz uma MJ carismática e capaz de nos fazer comprar o amor de Peter por ela. E o filme também aproveita três heróis (ou anti-heróis) importantes da Marvel, o Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), o Justiceiro (Jon Bernthal) e uma certa (futura) X-Men que todo mundo já sabe quem é, vivida por Sadie Sink. Aliás, a atriz é outro acerto mirando o público jovem, por ter um papel importante na série STRANGER THINGS. Ah, e não podemos esquecer de Yelena Belova, vivida pela sempre carismática Florence Pugh. Sua principal cena no filme é até bem ousada no quesito sensualidade para uma produção da Marvel/Disney.

Considero um tanto problemático o ritmo do filme, que parece ter bem mais que as suas 2h25min. Quem viu A ODISSEIA e não sentiu o tempo passar, pode fazer uma imediata comparação. Sem falar nos efeitos especiais com tanto CGI que parecem videogame de 10 anos atrás. Ainda assim, é fácil relevar e sabemos o quanto seria complicado fazer, por exemplo, uma luta do Aranha com o Hulk mais realista do que a que ficou. Além do mais, a participação de Marisa Tomei no filme é um dos momentos mais bonitos na história da Marvel no cinema. HOMEM-ARANHA: UM NOVO DIA contou com a direção de Destin Daniel Cretton, que já havia feito para a Marvel Studios SHANG-CHI E A LENDA DOS DEZ ANÉIS (2021), que eu considero um tanto chato.

O quarto longa-metragem do diretor de CORRENTE DO MAL (2014) é também seu filme mais ambicioso do ponto de vista da produção. O que me agradou bastante em O FIM DA RUA (2026), de David Robert Mitchell, foi o teor nostálgico, aquela sensação de que viver num mundo menos veloz como foi o mundo dos anos 1980, além de resgatar o clima de séries de televisão como ALÉM DA IMAGINAÇÃO e de filmes exibidos na Sessão da Tarde.

Na trama, uma família vivendo num bairro de subúrbio percebe que boa parte de sua vizinhança agora vive num mundo jurássico. Tudo indica que foram arremessados para o passado e agora convivem e lutam pela sobrevivência com dinossauros. Apesar de vermos os vizinhos sendo comidos pelos animais pré-históricos, pelo menos até determinado momento o tipo de tensão parece controlada. Mas só até determinado momento.

Anne Hathaway está ótima como a mãe de família que tem o sonho de ser romancista, e Ewan McGregor está bem como o pai de família que perdeu o emprego e vive de bicos como empregador. Há uma sequência bem emocionante no final. Belo filme.

Acredito que se não existisse a ótima HQ Supergirl – Mulher do Amanhã, de Tom King e Bilquis Evely, o idealizador deste novo momento da DC no cinema, James Gunn, não teria pensado num filme para a heroína. Embora não seja uma adaptação fiel, por assim dizer, da história da HQ, o filme de Craig Gillespie usa o esqueleto do enredo para introduzir a personagem.

O que mais me incomodou no filme foi o aspecto visual. Afinal, por que em SUPERMAN, dirigido pelo próprio Gunn, há um capricho visual, de cores, de efeitos especiais, de enredo, de caracterização de personagens, e neste SUPERGIRL (2026) o que vemos é um filme de cores apagadas, cinza, de efeitos ruins para o padrão de produções milionárias da DC/Warner? Se eu não tivesse assistido na sala IMAX iria culpar o projetor diante de fotografia tão feia.

No mais, gosto da jovem Milly Alcock como a heroína. Ela tem carisma. Também gosto do início, com cara de western (ou de filme de samurai) com intenção de criar uma história de vingança para a adolescente Ruthy (Eve Ridley). Embora a jovem desapareça um pouco do lado de Alcock, no final ela passa a servir de ótima escada para o drama da Supergirl, que ainda guarda em si um luto e uma revolta pela perda dos pais e viaja para planetas de sóis vermelhos de modo a conseguir se embriagar, escapar da realidade, da solidão, uma vez que ela já chegou na Terra tendo convivido com os pais. Tem uma origem distinta da de Superman.

Acaba sendo um filme apenas ok, que não empolga muito nas cenas de ação (com aquelas imagens horríveis, cinzas, sem nitidez, efeitos ruins), que conta com Jason Momoa interpretando a si mesmo, mas com a maquiagem do Lobo, e com um final bonitinho e terno, graças ao gracioso cãozinho Krypto. E a pergunta continua: qual será o destino do projeto de Gunn para o novo universo cinematográfico DC, dada a nova situação da Warner?
