Il y a des films dont les premières minutes ne laissent en rien présager de la suite que prendra le récit, celui-ci en fait partie. Nous suivons le parcours des personnages de ce film avec intérêt tout du long. Le récit est très cohérent et bien construit, chaque personnage a son importance et les acteurs se révèlent tous excellents, les plus anciens comme les plus jeunes.
Une Réalisation Maîtrisée et Inspirante
On sent le soin apporté à chaque élément du film dans tous les aspects, qu’il s’agisse de la lumière, des angles de vue, du montage qui nous plonge dans l’action autant que dans la contemplation. On a vraiment à faire à une œuvre magistrale de cinéma bien plus que certains films qualifiés de monuments uniquement par le nom de leurs réalisateurs ou l’accumulation de stars au casting, à consonance italienne par exemple.
Une Structure Narrative en Deux Temps
Le film se déroule en deux temps, le premier est à apprécier comme une mise en situation, une introduction de la deuxième partie. Bien qu’elle soit de qualité égale et faisant partie intégrante du récit, cette seconde partie du film est un changement qui peut surprendre voire déranger par le nombre plus important de protagonistes mais cela démontre que les choix d’un homme ont des répercussions bien au-delà de sa vie. C’est entre autres choses ce qui fait la force de ce film, comme d’autres ayant développé ce thème.
Clarté, Beauté et Satisfaction
Il n’en reste pas moins que dans celui-ci tout est très fluide, clair et sans bavures, le tableau se lit sans subterfuges inutiles. La beauté des sentiments exposés dans ce film ne souffre d’aucun artifice. On est, à la fin du film, totalement satisfait d’avoir choisi de le regarder.
