Two other papers in our session stood out:
"Adapting Futures Methods for Design: Adding Materiality and Story Layer to Design-Centered Causal Layered Analysis" by Peter Scupelli, Dina El-Zanfaly, and Adam Cowart. Reports on a design futuring course at CMU using CLA as the central creative method. Especially liked the new CLA canvases created by the students.

Why are everyday things the way they are, and how could they be otherwise? Two weeks ago Jordi Tost and I ran "Things from Otherwhere: Co-speculating with AI" at Politecnico di Milano. A 5-day workshop combining design futuring, defamiliarization, and generative AI to question everyday objects. Glitches and hallucinations as raw material, not errors. Who got the Golden Glitch Award? 🏆

Went to the Dunne & Raby talk "Not Here, Not Now" at the Viaduktraum, ZHdK last night. D&R made the case for design learning from quantum physics, literature, and speculative philosophy, treating design as a form of inquiry. Concepts like Meinong's Jungle and an Archive of Impossible Objects. Great to see them both after so long. Many thanks to Lukas Franciszkiewicz for organising!
