  1. Moved to the city! It was a werk ago, but with the missile attack last week, and the 7.10 anniversary yesterday, writing about my personal life didn't feel right. Anyway, now I don't live in the desert anymore so I need a new hashtag instead of #desert_life for my nature-related posts 🙈

  2. Yesterday I presented a speedtalk about my Msc research at the European Congress of Conservation Biology in Bologna!
I tracked the movement of invasive common mynas at a high resolution, in order to learn how they move around natural and modified desert habitats.

  3. Not the species we were trying to catch, but he's so pretty 😍
    Golden oriole (Oriolus oriolus)

  4. Saw a collared flycatcher! They usually arrive around my birthday and I love them #birds #desert_life

  5. The Asiatic wild ass (Equus hemionus) was successfully reintroduced into the Negev desert, after becoming extinct in the 1920s.
I'm very lucky to have a friend who studies them!

  6. Some #desert_life from this morning. This pair of Tristram's starlings is habituated to humans because they live in a popular picnic spot. The blackstart got almost as close, but the starlings kept stealing his food!

  7. CW: War, animal experiments (nothing graphic)

Earlier this week I was cleaning dorm appartments for people displaced by the war.
Today I fed a dead mouse to barn owl my labmate is responsible for, because she left for a couple of days. She's from Bethlehem and we've never really talked about The Situation, apart from sharing how each of us is handling it.
I don't know what the point of this post is, except that I live in a pretty special place.

  8. Some photos from our trip to #Bulgaria
Not actually #desert_life but I did see some cool animals and plants (and fungi!)

    1. A dunnock looking for food under picnic tables. Never managed to see one in Israel, not to mention one acting like a house sparrow!
Malyovitsa Hut, Rila National Park (~2000 m)

  9. Overthinking where to set my traps: trapped maybe 2 birds a month

Putting a trap in a random place because the car couldn't go farther on a bad dirt road: trapped 8 just yesterday 🤯

  10. The baby ibex are not afraid at all right now. Yeah, habituation to humans can cause problems, but look at these tiny horns!

  11. I didn't plan to have so much Israeli politics here when I first made this profile, but life happened.
