My latest article for the local paper talks about #Kernza, a newish, processed grain derived from a perennial intermediate wheatgrass, and its use in brewing — specifically, in two new beers from #DeschutesBrewery, Kernza Lager and #NonAlcoholic Kernza Golden Brew. For the article I focused on the non-alcoholic brew, the first certified organic NA #beer in the country.

#DeschutesBrewery announced today a new addition to its non-alcoholic beer lineup in the form of Fresh Squeezed NA #IPA—the alcohol-free version of its flagship Fresh Squeezed. It joins Black Butte NA, and it’s the first NA beer to be made entirely in-house; previously, the brewery’s #NonAlcoholicBeer was crafted in Colorado at #SustainableBeverageTechnologies with the company’s BrewVo® technology.

One of the newest beers added to the #DeschutesBrewery year-round lineup this year is Symphonic Chronic Double Dank #IPA, a resinous and fruity ale that “combines West Coast kettle hopping with East Coast dry hopping” in a big #beer with 9% alcohol by volume.
