A look at the final day of Derbyshire v Middlesex, an assessment of Derbyshire's overseas seamer and a photo gallery.

End of the over, which reduces the overs remaining count to 15, and as suggested by me five overs ago or thereabouts the Derbyshire skipper tells the Middlesex batters that they have done enough and it is a draw.

16 overs to go, Middlesex 307-7, 150 ahead. The only question now is when hands will be shaken. Thompson to bowl what I suspect will be the last over of this match.

50 for Zadar Gohar. Middlesex 307-7, 150 to the good.

300 up for Middlesex, a lead of 143 overall, and one suspects that is soon as the overs remaining count ticks down to 15 there will be handshakes all round - in this form of cricket, with no fielding restrictions the Middlesex advantage is now enough to be proof against defeat.

Higgins gone for 56 to make it 295-7, a lead of 138 overall. Morley with the catch off the bowling of Alex Thomson.

Zak Chappell has just dropped the last chance of a result, reprieving Zafar Gohar (and it was a very easy chance).

Tea on day four. Middlesex are 243-6, 86 ahead overall. One over after the interval the new ball will be due. Middlesex still have a bit of batting to do before they are out of the woods.

@TheVoidTLMB The crazy few minutes in the run up to lunch when Holden chucked it away trying to reach three figures before the interval and Eskinazi suffered that crazy run out immediately afterwards slightly opened the door that Middlesex should have slammed shut, and this afternoon has been almost all Derbyshire.

Zak Chappell gets the wicket of Jack Davies with the aid of a catch by keeper Guest and it is 220-6, Middlesex 63 ahead overall.

Turn and bounce does for Geddes, caught close in on the leg side to make it 197-5, Middlesex a mere 40 to the good. David Lloyd is the catcher, Alex Thomson the bowler.

Du Plooy pinned on the foot plumb in front of his stumps, and limps slowly back to the pavilion. Middlesex 194-4, 37 ahead overall. Ben Geddes, once of Surrey, is the new batter.

We have a bizarre run out, Eskinazi going for 61 to make it 169-3, Middlesex 12 runs ahead and that is lunch, meaning that two new batters, one of them the limping Leus du Plooy, whose runner Fernandes was involved in the Eskinazi dismissal.

Holden goes for a big shot, trying to reach three figures before the lunch interval, misses and is bowled by Morley for 94. Middlesex 169-2, 12 runs ahead overall, and Holden may just have pushed the door ajar for Derbyshire.

Derbyshire stupidly wasting time in the field, which helps only Middlesex. Derbyshire should be looking to get in as many overs as they possibly can to maximize their chances of winning.

For those wondering about the Derbyshire bowling situation, Luis Reece went off after bowling four balls of an over yesterday, and the over was finished for him by Jack Morley, hence the left arm spinner's overs completing at .2.

Tickner at midwicket drops a hard chance off Jack Morley, the left arm spinner. Middlesex 94-1.

Just looked up the records of Blair Tickner, the New Zealand seamer playing for Derbyshire. He has 251 FC wickets at 34.22 a piece from 83 matches (so just barely three scalps per match average, one whole wicket per match below my standard for a specialist bowler). These figures would be indifferent for a home player. For an overseas player, doubtless being paid better than a home one, they are quite frankly a disgrace.

Under way at Derby in the only lice cricket of the day. No wickets so far. Middlesex need to be in occupation by tea before they can even begin to feel safe.
#cricket #CountyCricket #CountyChampionship #DERvMID -
End of day three. Middlesex are 60-1, still 97 short of avoiding the innings defeat, which means that at barest minimum they will need to survive until teatime tomorrow to avoid defeat.

There is precisely one live cricket commentary left now: Derbyshire v Middlesex, where the home side have enforced the follow-on and have an early wicket in the Middlesex second innings. Barring a collapse to rival Somerset's earlier today this one will go into a final day.
#cricket #CountyCricket #CountyChampionship #DERvMID -
Derbyshire have done the right thing and enforced the follow on. They have been rewarded with an early strike, Nathan Fernandes going for 0 to make it 0-1 in the Middlesex second innings.
#cricket #CountyCricket #CountyCham;pionship #DERvMID -
Middlesex all out 315 in reply to Derbyshire's 472. This late in the match Derbyshire really have to enforce the follow-on whether they like it or not.
