  1. Modern World Needs Older Myths

People think atheists want to erase faith and leave behind a void but atheists actually want to fill that space with human connection and a deeper appreciation for the world.  To reject the supernatural is to scrub the world clean of ghosts, ghouls, monsters and gods, leaving behind a landscape governed entirely by verifiable and quantifiable data. Or that's what we're told. But this is a misunderstanding. You do not need to believe in the literal existence of a village deity or a cosmic […]

  4. @n1234 I've been reflecting on your post and image. It's as if this is a mystical, rather than a religious St. George. Thanks so much for sharing this. #mysticism #DepthPsychology

  6. @Remittancegirl #Freud's essay, "The Uncanny" considers a similar question - what is the cause of that shivery, numinous feeling one might call 'uncanny'? He suggests that the feeling has roots in a certain kind of *familiarity* -- that the moment (or image, or story) in question jangles the bells of something we have repressed -- something, perhaps, that lies unquiet in the #psyche.

  7. "The unconscious is the only available source of religious experience."

    ~ C.G. Jung

(it's important to realize Jung did not thereby mean to imply religious experiences are false)

  10. On dream images:

What is the energy that the picture is releasing *if you make it*?

The healing power *is the metaphor*.
