While there is good news in the shipbuilding industry from the US, and some of it applies to #Submarine builds (#Virginia and #Columbia classes). There’s nary a word from our #DepartmentOfDefence #AUKUS desk.
> “Austal is putting the finishing touches on the 400,000-square-foot Module Manufacturing Facility 3. The $450 million Navy-funded MMF 3 promises to deliver an annual output of 1 million labor hours by 2027 devoted to building four types of modules for the Virginia- and Columbia-class submarines,”
Current US plans are to increase submarine module production to 50% of the total submarine build. A return to the early 1940s shipbuilding process.
