#Food for my ongoing first dentures recovery journey. I still am unable to chew much of anything with the dentures but try at least once/day - just failing lots at chewing. I'm glad that I can still eat several of my cultural foods - just need to mince things up so I can eat without chewing. I'm no longer scared about losing weight.

I'm struggling with trying to learn how to talk again, with my immediate dentures. I keep biting inside of lip, in one area - when trying to speak. My jaw hurts a lot but I'm still avoiding pain meds because of the nausea they cause. My bite & jawline has changed after final extractions & the immediate dentures were put in. I still can't chew much at all with them. I keep trying to practice talking/reading aloud & chewing softer foods.

Day 11. I can't wear my immediate dentures today due to a bone coming out of one gum. It bumps against dentures, causing intense pain. I have another adjustments appointment at denturist for 1:30PM, tomorrow. I'll likely have to also get some adjustments on lower denture too because 2 spots are now rubbing against it & causing those areas to feel like a tight vise grip.

Yesterday, I had homemade chicken noodle soup & chocolate pudding & cup of oolong tea, for breakfast. I ate mashed potatoes & gravy with some steamed, softened broccoli & cauliflower, banana pudding & drank a glass of unsweetened soya milk for lunch. I adapted my Vietnamese bun rieu rice noodles(broken into small, no chew bits) soup for dinner. I had 2 containers of blueberry yogurt & cup of homemade iced lemon tea, with dinner.

Breakfast, today, was steamed rice with salted lime & minced chicken soup, banana pudding & chilled bottle of chocolate Ensure nutritional supplement drink. For lunch, I had more bun rieu rice noodles soup, a bowl of strawberry ice cream for dessert & large glass of honey sweetened, soya milk with ice.

I'm only 0.5lbs away from recovering my lost weight. Making more of our traditional foods & adapting them so I can eat without needing to chew. I don't do well when going without our cultural foods for too long.

Day 8: Adjusting to immediate dentures.

Breakfast:

Soya sauce braised eggplant with plain rice congee.
1 strawberry Ensure nutritional supplement drink.

I'm doing my best to adjust to trying to eat with these dentures. I'm struggling due to lower one being very ill fitting with a gap at back that's too large. It makes me gag often. I hope next adjustments will deal with that issue. Still, am glad to be able to eat some foods & not puke it up.

My gums are healing up pretty good so far. My jaw is still sore & uncomfortable as heck; that will be the case for awhile as my mouth adjusts more to dentures; post-extractions changed my bite.

Day 7: One week after final extractions & immediate dentures put in.

Breakfast & lunch were the exact same.

Bowl of plain congee with preserved bean curd & some dried shredded pork with soya sauce.(pictured below)
Banana & coconut pudding.
1 bottle of chocolate Ensure nutritional supplement drink.

My upper dentures are better fitted after 2nd adjustments yesterday. My lower one is still super loose & bothering me a lot. I'll be back at denturist again next week for more adjustments. No serious pain, just a lot of discomfort as my gums heal & slowly recede. I'm gagging more often because my tongue doesn't like the foreign objects in my mouth. I'll have to go back to dentist when gums are less swollen. There's definitely one exact spot where I know will need additional surgery. It's where a bone spur is going to first emerge & my dentist will need to cut/shave it down flat. I started drooling on myself a bit today. That's due to extra saliva from my mouth trying to get used to the dentures.

I am just super glad that I'm able to eat food & not puke anything up. I'm slowly regaining some lost weight 👍

The nausea returned again in morning. I took 2 Gravol Ginger tablets. I'm going to be so happy when I have no more nausea daily & able to eat without taking Gravol first. I'm trying to remain in good spirits. It's difficult when I don't feel well & am nauseous daily. I can't help but feel upset sometimes...it passes..when the nausea stops.

Day 5, dinner:

2 soft boiled eggs - finely minced.
Broccoli & cauliflower, beef broth congee(no pic, will update later)
Buttered mashed potatoes with gravy.
Orange electrolytes drink (no pic)

Cat nurse is very steadfast in support 💗 Asher knows I'm quite unwell atm & sticking close.
