  1. Tuli yhtäkkiä mieleen tämä klassikko. Muistaako kekään muu enää #DennisPotter'in viimeistä TV-sarjaa, #LipstickOnYourCollar? ”Bumholes”-kohtaus taisi olla heti ekassa jaksossa. #TV

  6. 'The astonishing talent of #DennisPotter

The trailblazing #dramatist, who died 30 years ago today, was celebrated for his creativity, but also had work banned by the #BBC. His peers discuss his legacy – and that extraordinary final interview

  11. I loved The Singing Detective so much (currently on iPlayer if you fancy it) I've now re/watched some other #DennisPotter classics.

Really enjoyed Karaoke + Cold Lazarus (better than I remembered it and Karaoke wins over CL for me), but couldn't really get on with Lipstick on Your Collar. It just fell a bit short and didn't seem to ask/ponder some of the big questions of his other works (life, death, illness, trauma, sex, etc.)

Now I need to try and find Pennies From Heaven

  12. Do you observe #SpookySeason? In the first week of October I rewatched Over The Garden Wall (once I found it commercial free on Hulu); and The Singing Detective (my favorite role played by #MichaelGambon, RIP). #DennisPotter's #TheSingingDetective is not a #Halloween themed program but it’s hella spooky (see #scarecrow clip). It’s also heavy and #musical and confusing. If you’re interested I recommend watching 1 episode at a time. The only place I found it available was: youtube.com/watch?v=vI10_bFyqi

  17. Hey, Bob. Movies.

#NowWatching The Archers' A Canterbury Tale (1944). The influence on #DennisPotter is all over it. #film #cinemastodon

  18. #Bales2023FilmChallenge March 4: A mother/son or father/son #movie for #NationalSonsDay

“Pardon me boy, is that the Chattanooga Choo Choo?
    (Yes Yes) Track 29!
Boy you can give me a shine
(Can you afford to board, the Chattanooga Choo Choo?)”

Track 29 (#NicolasRoeg, 1988), written by #DennisPotter and based on his #play Schmoedipus, and produced by #GeorgeHarrison's HandMade Films. A young man (very fresh-faced Gary Oldman) who suddenly appears in a middle-aged woman's (Roeg regular Theresa Russell) life may be the son she gave once gave up for adoption. Of course, tensions ensue, not in the least caused by husband Christopher Lloyd's vast model train collection.

  21. Just rewatched #TheSingingDetective. I was working in London once & bumped into my Aunt - a producer on Radio 4 at the time - in Liverpool St Station. We met for dinner at an Italian restaurant behind Broadcasting House next night, & Dennis Potter was sat at the next table.

JEEZ, DAD, GET A GRIP! :eyeroll:

I find it beyond extraordinary that irascible kids are au fait with a work inspired by #WilhelmReich, #DennisPotter and #RosaLuxemburg.
