The more I think about the #NationalGallery Sainsbury Wing proposal the more I ask why, and whose it for?
Currently, when looking up from the bottom of the grand staircase you get a thrill of excitement at the climb ahead. Designed as a grand palazzo entrance fit for the populace the proposal will butcher this conceit. No wonder #DeniseScottBrown is upset.
This space in all its intended glory should stay. It's a joy.
