Q: why does democracy bring the most competent in corruption into power?

In #corrupt systems, that can favor candidates who are skilled at:
building patronage networks
manipulating messaging
collecting donations
trading favors
exploiting weak rulesIf voters don’t have good information, or if institutions are weak, the most “competent” political operators can be the ones most competent at corruption.
But it’s not democracy itself that causes this. It’s democracy plus:
weak courts and oversight
low transparency

The same thing seems to be happening in almost(?) all Western #Democracies.
A century ago, it was the #RedScare that befell the world 🌍 with the #CommunistInternational. It was soon followed by the fascist "#BrownScare," aka "#NationalSocialism, " aka #Fascism.
A #FascistInternational is in the making.
