Je ne connaissais pas la version Python de Deluxe Paint ! 🤩
Deluxe Paint je l'avais utilisé sur Amiga, c'est une tuerie ce truc !
Pour le lancer (Debian 13) j'ai juste eu à extraire depuis l'archive tar.gz
(numpy et pygame) était déjà installés.
Et ça marche ! Yhea !https://pydpainter.org/
Note que les devs ont un compte Masto, il est indiqué dans la page. -

To my #deluxepaint and #imagemagick bubble: How can I swap two colors in an indexed color (i.e. 8-bit) palette based image? Let's say I have color 9 as the background color currently for a sprite sheet, but want it to be at index 0 instead. I could write a small program to do that, but I bet magick or DP can already do it!

And I realized #Grafx2 does have a color cycling feature just like in #DeluxePaint, but Grafx2 does not support separate color cycling ranges.
In fact, it only has one color cycling range compared to, say, DPaint III's six separate ranges.
(Deluxe Paint IV has an impressive *eight* individual color cycling ranges!)

I've been thinking whether I should get the newest version of ProMotion from Cosmigo. I'm still using the ancient ProMotion 4.7 from almost 20 years ago, which still works on Windows 10 but more importantly runs nicely on Wine so I can use it under Linux. However, while PM 4.7 is a very nice spiritual successor to Deluxe Paint, and all the ancient workflows I developed on DPaint II enhanced for MS-DOS back in the early 1990s still work with PM 4.7, I sometimes miss modern features like layers. If I want basic DPaint functionality, I can use Grafx2, which is even free open source software under GPL.
Should I invest 20€ and get the latest Pro Motion? Well, maybe I'll try the free version first and see if it works with Wine...I find it quite odd that so few pixel artists out there use it. Then again, I don't know how many active pixel artists are old enough to remember DPaint (and miss it).

@loadhigh I think I'll redo the original pixel art. I'll rework the upscaled 640x480 version in Cosmigo ProMotion, a professional pixel art tool for retro game designers loosely based on DPaint, using some of my AI results for reference. My Cosmigo version is very outdated (4.7, some 20 years old), but fortunately it still runs on Wine.
