Cloudflare should be avoided at all costs, and not only because of their political views but also because it's yet another layer of centralization threatening the free web with bullshit like "Checking if the site connection is secure" or "You're using #Tor Browser? Bad luck for you, fuck off". When I was still following #MastoAdmin I found it always super silly when fedi admins were telling proudly that their decentralized Mastodon instance is now behind CF. 🤦🏼♂️

In case anyone missed it, a month ago #TorProject implemented #ProofOfWork to defend #OnionSites from #DDOS traffic! A good step forward for #theInternet, well done Tor Team!

Haven't yet understood why people are running their own #Mastodon #Instance, thus participating actively in the decentralized #Fediverse (great, highly appreciated!) and then recommend putting everything behind #Cloudflare or use Cloudflare as CDN, which to me is just another spreading web cancer like G00gle and the opposite of decentralization. What is the reason? Cost (->B2)? Comfort? Potential #DDoS? Any other reason?

Unfortunately, Misskey doesn't work in TorBrowser at all, even when a user approves #JavaScript via the NoScript interface. Is invasive javascript used?If #MisskeyDev do find this info useful and are serious about giving back, please stop using cloudFlare at misskey-hub.net and repent by contributing to #DeCloudFlare.

If one doesn't have the skills to setup a #fediInstance, don't run an instance. Especially don't entrust CloudFlare to set it all up, and then to effectively have them #spying on you and your friends.We will be blocking the official CloudFlare instance (cloudflare.social) at the first opportunity, and in all seriousness it ought be 'a thing'.

Woah! We finally had a chance recently to check the hacked #Medibank website.Apparently the #healthInsurance company that got hacked, is #reverseProxied from #AmazonCloudFront servers. So in effect, Australian's data was "hacked" by a US entity first using #socialEngineering.

If #privatised infrastructure gets #hacked, #managment would need to be replaced and the #infrastructure should be returned to public hands, or get broken up.
Similar to how #banks collapsing or creating extreme instability should be dealt with.
