"There are fifteen different tick species that have been found in Maine, though not all are permanent residents. Some may arrive in the state on wildlife hosts and do not establish viable populations. Other species have thrived in Maine and are now widespread throughout much of the state. The biology and ecology of ticks can vary significantly based upon species and can determine the level of threat each species poses.

A great band (and friends of mine) from Providence, Rhode Island.

Because I lived smack dab in the middle of #ProvidenceRI and Boston, I had access to the best of both music scenes growing up there.

I could go one way, and see bands like Buffalo Tom and Morphine, or the other way, to catch bands like Six Finger Satellite, Velvet Crush and later, Deer Tick.

Here, little has changed about Deer Tick, and thank god for that.
They’ve always been a tight, killer band, and John McCauley’s voice, although maybe a little older and wiser, is still twangy, soulful, scorched earth.

Great album opener in “If I Tried To Leave”, a retro, countrified blast of rock n roll.

Long live Deer Tick.

The third in a series of cover albums by Shovels & Rope, this one focuses on kids songs or songs in lullaby style, thus the “Juicebox” joke in the cover. But these are great versions with contemporary artists, including Sharon Van Etten, John Paul White (formerly of The Civil Wars), Felice Brothers, Deertick, M. Ward, The Secret Sisters, and the War and Treaty.

Massachusetts is basically a bog. 😂 Ipswich River wildlife sanctuary trails were wet, muddy and flooded in some places. I found a tiny tick nymph crawling on my hand on the drive home. Upon returning home, we thoroughly checked. No other ticks. 🕷️✨👀 *lucky me*

Seeing #MonicaMartin open for #NickelCreek. Monica is a delight onstage, very social media but good songwriting and not just (entertaining!) personality.

wondering if there are any experts out here maybe #entomology #pathogens #LymeDisease #insects #identification #ticks available to ID this tick from this photo. to me, an amateur, it looks like it's a #DeerTick bc it doesn't have any white or other color on its face/head...? this is next to tweezers. it was on my back for 3-5 days.
